Started sporadically in the early 70s and gradually picked up steam.
I have 40 frags.

hednic: in context, thats about 2 or 3 each month, if you were to average it out.

how many of them do you use at least once a year?
Right now i have around 30 but i just started. I blind buy a 1.7 bottle every week based off of reviews and hype. Every now and then ill go to marshalls or tjmax to pick up a few bc im so impatient. Hopefully in 5 years from now ill have over 1,000 bottles. I also buy 3 niche sample per week and will buy only the niche bottles i like.

Honestly don't have the faintest idea.

I'm up to 63 right now with about 200+ on the wish list :/

Amazing collection, hednic. Congrats to you and thanks for sharing your takes on them with us.
After getting close to 70 bottles, I'm down to under 60 now. I've more or less instituted a buying freeze, save for usable sized decants (30 ml or under), and wouldn't mind getting under 40 within the next two years.

One small fire away from 0. Seriously though Hednic that's a lot of fragrances. Where the heck to you put them all?

That is an impressive collection, I would love to see 'Hednic's Museum of Perfumes' .
I'm at 99...but I guess my samples and decants could count for that +1...But 99 actual "bottles," 70 or so "samples/decants," and 31 sold/passed along.

They're stored in a large temperature controlled walk-in storage vault currently under renovation. So for now I have had to purchase 5 four-tiered tall shelves to store all in a cool place which is a bit cramped but will do the job until the renovations are completed.
Under 40, which is more than enough ...
As of 48 hours ago, I was at well over 200 but the need to downsize my collection is evident. I heavily gravitate towards certain fragrances and saw I wasn't ever wearing the bulk of what I had first bought. My nose mature a little too fast, so much so that I hope to get my collection down towards 60 commonly used frags.

Around 140 or so full bottles (majority in 100ml).

Your poll should have included:

I have around 70 bottles and tons of decants and samples/minis.
Around 160 mostly niche

Planing to downsize to around 30 and

use the cash to investiaget further
71 according to my wardrobe here, but a few are decants. I've actually sold off a few lately, and there are only a couple others that I'd consider getting rid of. I wear pretty much all of them.
So far I have 103 bottles and a bunch of decants.
Under 100 but just barely and not counting samples with no decants. I also buy only what I like...

I try to buy the smallest cost-effective size, given that I will never use up what I have already.

Actually it's over 100 if you count multiple bottles of things.
Wonder what the ideal sized collection is. I've seen one on here that numbered in the thousands and was kept at several locations.
Just over 200 (flacons, no decants, no samples)
When my bottle of Aperitif arrives from Fragrancenet arrives that will be bottle 97. I have several smaller bottles and samples as well. Current plan is that when I officially reach one hundred I want to level off there and try to save for some more expensive choices I've been foregoing while obtaining some cheaper ones that interested me.
Under 100 as I sold many bottles recently....
under 30
Currently have 44 bottles.

Also have around 7 decants and around 90 samples.

For those who don't do decants....can I ask why? Is it a collectors thing where you prefer to have the bottle? Or is it down to fear of degradation during the decant process?
18 bottles
5 decants
59 samples

212 and I usually buy a couple more each month.
Around 200.
Right now my collection contains just a little less than 1800 fragrances. Either 1781 or 1791, I can't remember.

This is NOT an ideal size collection!
Before basenotes - under 10.

After basenotes - under 100 (and growing).

Samples - to my horror - over 100!@

This is my most expensive hobby.

guess I m over 300.... could you imagine how difficult it is to choose one every morning ! ?? !!.... I m very jealous from guys who just have one and don t have that problem...
I'm at 70-something according to wardrobe, but over 100 actual bottles. Some of them I have various concentrations and vintages of (about a dozen each of Habit Rouge and Shalimar). A few of my 70+ are 50ml splits. I have about 10-15 decants and I stopped tracking samples.
Just under 80, I'm hopping to hit 100 in December but it looks like I'll hit that mark earlier.
I own 6 bottles. In fact, my Dior Homme Intense is almost finished, and I'm not replacing it, so probably down to 5 in a few months and no intention to have more than 5 bottles around!
Excluding samples and decants I'm around 300
post #47 of 137
99 so far...
I have around 130 bottles and do wear them all at some point. It just means that they will last me forever! The worrying thing is that I'm in the process of purchasing more; I don't really want to own more than I can enjoy.

Closing in on my half-century of bottles!

(Not counting back ups/samples etc, of which I have a few.)
Under 60 here
Excluding back-up bottles, I own 48 frags. I do however, have plans to get more, and move others on ^_^
post #53 of 137
Not counting what's on my swap-list, I have.....

5 regular-size bottles
4 travel-size bottles
182 decants & samples
Probably around 100.
Just over 20
Around the 80-90 but there's a good chunk I'd like to offload at this point.

Main reasons for not doing decants:

1. Very expensive relative to samples (free) or bottles on a per ounce basis.
2. I like things in the real bottles.
3. I try to get 4-15 ml. of things I won't use very much. Much cheaper and more convenient than decants. Then I buy larger sizes if I think I will be using a lot of them.
4. Decant companies seem flaky and unbusinesslike (see "Surrender to Chance" scandal).
5. Decant bottles are boring and all look the same, like something out of a Chem lab.
6. You never really know what's in those things.

I keep considering decants for things it is impossible to get otherwise, don't come in small sizes, or are absurdly expensive in full bottles, but have always had other priorities.
