WTF - I thought you had passed the 1500 mark by now

I only have a modest collection of 272 - 282 if I count the 10 bottles I just paid for online 1 hour ago from cheapsmells.com and beautyencounter.com

If I count my backup bottles in, I'm past the 300 mark now......
I currently own 21 bottles (Bleecker St should be in today excited about that). 3 I don't really wear at all. The others I rotate pretty frequently.

I own about 17 samples (Mostly Bon Bons)
Just over 100 bottles for me.
65 and I'm pretty damned happy with them.

However, I've slowed down considerably recently and future purchases will have to really blow my socks off.
> 100 full bottles, about half dozen backups, and 10+ samples = Too.Bloody.Many. I will be downsizing in the coming months (July is my one-year anniversary).
Around 40 bottles.
Great poll btw, noirdrakkar. I've often wondered this question myself. I'm suffering from some serious perfume envy with my sub 10 collection.
I'm also less than 10!

I feel so inadequate

That might be a good place to start. Somewhere where us guys with small collections can learn to accept that there are others in the world who have been blessed with massive collections. The important thing to remember is that having a small collection doesn't make you any less of a man.
i'm at a little over 50 but I want to trim it down to 15-20 bottles of essential juice only.
10 bottles, that's it. And I'm looking to get that to 6
post #75 of 137
I have around 40 FBs - and that's only because I'm simplistic and brutal and will not let this thing grow out of proportions. I have a radical principle of getting rid of a bottle pretty much every time I acquire a new one. It's not really all that hard - I'm a restless person and get tired of most fragrances after a while. In fact, I can't remember actually using up even a 50 mls bottle for years. As I buy new stuff all the time, others will soon have to go - at the moment Tam Dao and Lumière Noire are staring into the abyss...
i've got no idea, probably over 150. it doesn't matter so much to me. i like all of them a lot, maybe 2 or 3 duds, love most of them to bits.
I have 78 in my wardrobe, of which some are aftershaves (Brut, Cool Wave, Adidas) and adore like 50 of them to bits!
Trying to sell about 15 bottles I hardly use and try to be around 50 different edt! bottles the most.
Got most bottles through cheap sell an trade sites for like 40-50% of normal store price.
I also own some real cheapies.

Dolce Gabbana ph vintage (150 ml), Gucci pour homme 2003 (330ml), Cool Water "vintage" pre-2007 (165ml), Chevignon Brand Classic (150ml) and Daniel Hechter Caractere edt (150ml total) I got back up bottles of I didn't count!
20, feel ashamed to share considering some of the numbers.
Around 200+ bottles...
few dozen samples (never counted 'em)...
...see my wardrobe...!(and count Héritage, Habit Rouge and Terre d'Hermès double [= EDP]!)
Between 500 and 600.

Have been wanting to downsize my collection to around 100 but don't really know where to start. I like most of them...
I have about 40, most I like but some duds. I have bought a couple of things recently but I am about done. The remaining wants are pretty high priced and I will get them slowly...
Just over 100, but there are probably 30-40 of those that I will always have in my collection. For the people who have over 100, how many do you actually reach for?
I have 3 dozen but I'm wanting to slim that down to about 2 dozen and then probably to stay in the 20s. If anyone wants to help you can see what I'm looking to trim away by what I have listed in my sale or trade thread which you get can to from the links in my sig. I don't really like having fragrances sitting around I don't wear since I'm not a collector, I'm a wearer. So the things I really love I will keep and things I don't will find a new home. The most amount of bottles I've had is in the 50s and I couldn't see myself ever getting back to that many.
I didn't count the bottles I'm swapping or selling, or my backup bottles.
10 bottles at the moment plus some samples.

Your poll should have included:

Under 10

Under 20

Under 40

Under 60

Under 100

Under 200

Under 400

Under 600

Under 800

Under 1000

Under 1200

Under 1500

Yes, Hedonist. That would be more accurate.
25, cant see myself ever having more than 40... I'm starting to run out of options that I both like and can afford!
I'm both tickled and shocked as I read this thread. Wow, some of you have been collecting for a long time while others have been amassing bottles at an alarming rate! Its so interesting to hear about how others approach a hobby for which you are also so fond.

I, too, have little trouble parting with bottles when its time to find some new ones. I vacillate between 20 and the low 30s. Couldn't see myself owning fewer than 15 or more than 40. That's just me...
I have 354, but I'd like to get up to 365. YMMV.

all of them- just not as frequently as someone with fewer bottles.

I'd like to see pictures when you're done.

I have 33. I have started 7 months ago. Now I am buying 2-3 a month. I can only afford designer. I think I would have 15-20 that I use regulary and the rest wont be replaced after the bottle gets empty. I am gaining lot of experience which ones are the best and worth to be kept.

I try to use them all evenly but there are a dozen or so that I find myself reaching for more frequently than others.
I have about 45. Hopefully, should be able to stop at 50. After that, finish one then buy one. Been at it since 1975
post #96 of 137
Last option. Around 160 full sized bottles. Cannot be more precise as not all fragrances that I own are listed in the fragrance directory.
I have about 70, but I have some I deliberately choose not to count that sit in draws and other places, so it could be as many as 80.
Actually just counted everything last night and Im at 53 not counting the Vintage M7 and Kiehl's original Musk oil I just ordered. Ive made up my mind not to surpass 75, but like most people I have some bottles that I need to get rid that I blind bought early on. We should organize a huge BN online swap meet and trade our unwanted bottles. People on the Swap Boards are wanting very specific, and mostly High End and Niche bottles, and this would be a cool way to get rid of stuff you dont use that other people might enjoy.
I would like to see some pics of you guys with your 1000+ bottle collection!

I was at a little over a 100, but I sold most and am now down to 20 or so.
I have around 35 bottles. Just barely started in November, however.
I am now about to hit 100. I wonder what the ideal size is?
I voted for under 40 (true number is probably in the mid 30's), but this is only counting full size bottles that I own. I have a good number of mini's and a very large number of decants and samples (no way am I going to attempt to count those) that I don't think count in this poll. I am fairly new to having many frag's. In the past I have owned only a few, but since joining here my collection has grown significantly...
A year ago 1 fragrance.
Today about 75 fragrances plus even more samples.
On a personal level very satisfying to have discovered Basenotes and fragrances and the fragrance community.
On a financial & accounting level more worrisome as it fits a known pattern of collecting and spending.
On the plus side, the fragrance community is friendly, supportive, and entertaining and writes the very best damn reviews. I'm not sure which I'm more enchanted by, the frangrances or of the reviewer's descriptions.
IMO it has been getting out of hand. Honestly I envy those that have 1-2 scents that they love and wear daily. I look at my collection as a great wardrobe of fragrances but nothing that I can't live without. I am consistently searching for "the" scent.

One for each day of the year! Hope you are disciplined enough to give every fragrance its yearly wear

If you have time, please list the missing ones in the "Missing fragrances list" in the forums. There are many of us now trying to update the directory and entering missing fragrances every week.
I own 107 bottles and 50 cologne oils. I have about 15 fragrances on the wish list.

I'll try, when time/opportunity permits. From memory, some of the fragrances were already on the "missing" list. I will have to pull out ALL of my bottles from the closet/boxes. Something that I do only once or twice a year.
Currently own 125. Really looking to get that number to sub 100. Oh, did I mention that I have about 10+ on my wish list. sigh

Reviving thread: any more voters?
11full bottles, 5 1.7oz (3 are splits,) 62 samples. A few bottles and samples in the mail.
Before Basenotes I had 1 full bottle of L'Homme, 1 half bottle of vintage Jazz. 2 months ago.
I mistakenly chose under 60 but had to state that as of now I own 67 bottles including two minis (15 ml and 20 ml) and two or three large decants (50 ml).
Plus I own quite some decants.
Around 200 bottles.

12 now... Started collecting 2 months ago. Before that I used 1 bottle at a time until it was done.

@hednic post a pic of your collection here!

Where do you store them? I imagine the storage space smells lovely. Or does it?
Haven't counted but my guess would be around 500. Part of the collection is in San Diego and part in Montreal in my other home, a few are duplicates but not a lot. I have three shoe boxes full of samples and decants too but I rarely use them except for reference as I prefer 100 ml bottles for collector reasons.
