Choose a Signature/Favorite fragrance launched in your year of birth

Thread Starter
If you were to choose a signature/favorite fragrance launched in the year of your birth, not necessarily a fragrance you currently own, what would it be?

For me, I would choose L'Eau du Navigateur by L'Artisan (1982) - I actually sampled this it at Barneys a couple months ago, and like it! I never would have guessed it was launched that year.

Yes, this thread may expose your age.

Chanel Pour Monsieur.

Sadly it hasn't aged as well as I have, now just a shadow of its former self.

Monsieur Musk 1973

Tough choice...suppose I'll go with Fahrenheit by Christian Dior (1988).

Quite a few releases in 1988...among some others that jumped out at me are Cool Water, Jazz, Garrigue, New West for Him, and Santal Noble.

I don't think there were any important male fragrance releases in 1977 - it was, however, a memorable year for the ladies: YSL Opium and Oscar de la Renta's Oscar are exactly as old as me.

Creed Acier Aluminium (1973)

I was going to say Cool Water (1988), since I wear it pretty often, but after browsing the Fragrance Directory, I see that Gucci Nobile was launched that year. I blind-bought a bottle of Nobile from the closeout store I worked at for only $40 back in 2005. (Bought it based on the brand only ).

Only my second bottle of cologne...probably wasn't a wise purchase, being that I may have been the only 16 year-old with Nobile as a signature scent.

PdN's New York, Tiffany for Men, or Chanel Pour Monsieur Concentree for me.

I had a very similar experience as to how I came into possession of Nobile, I bought a 1 oz bottle when I was 17 in order to qualify for some sort of promotion Perfumania was running. I think I got my bottle for $9.99. Had I known what bottles of it would be going for now, I would've cleaned out the shelf

Begrudgingly I pick Creed Bois du Portugal. 1987 wasn't the best year by me.

Nersh:

how comes! Our birth year was a wonderful year for frags. Azuree, Calandre, Chamade, plus, as a side dish, O de Lancome, Monsieur de Rochas, Dioressence and others (I now see alfa posted the list!)

Hard to choose for me. Chamade has been drifting down, but it's still a wonderful green floral. I love Azuree - but perhaps in leathers I'm partial to Bandit. So I'll vote for Calandre (of which I recently acquired a vintage sample).

Our year has also inspired a newer frag, 1969 by HdP, which is pretty good too.

1988, so take your pick!

Fahrenheit it is for me.

So simple....the one that started it all for me....and the one that I will ALWAYS wear to the day I die....Chanel For Men aka Pour Monsieur (not concentree)....it really does not get much better! I do wish though, that Chanel would take a hint from Dior and create a Parfum around Pour Monsieur the way Dior did with Eau Savage...

Nothing interesting in my birth year, well other than my birth.
