Just got me a mini of this and right now I'm on my second wearing. The initial burst of notes seems like grandma's perfume. I know I should give it some time but so far it seems odd.

The opening for me does not conjure up that image.

I think they got a little carried away with aldehydes with this frag.

Yes, I know what you mean but I love it. It makes me want to put on my red velvet jeans and my paisley shirt and walk down the street with a rose between my teeth.

Yes, I think the aldehydes are responsible for the OP's impression. We usually associate heavy aldehydes with classic feminine fragrances. Otherwise I don't see anything especially feminine about Iquitos.

I'm an aldehyde lover and really like Iquitos, but I can understand why the opening might be too much for some people.
