I host the odd split around here, but I'm pretty selfish about it. I only host things that I really want a share of myself. There are several other posters on this forum who are always hosting your favorite Creeds, Puredistance, Xerjoff, etc. and they are doing this almost entirely out of kindness. Splits on Basenotes are, by definition, not for-profit endeavors. The person hosting them is spending huge amounts of time decanting, packaging, mailing, organizing, and dealing with everything that can go wrong on your behalf.
I would like to suggest that, if you have a favorite person that you've gotten a split from, that you drop them $10 via PayPal as a thank you. It will not take many people doing this for them to have enough to buy a bottle of whatever they've been craving--something new to spray on while they wear out their index fingers to help out the rest of us.
I will personally take a moment as well to thank Kron from whom I have received several absolutely perfect splits.
