Surprisingly Budget-Friendly Gems

We all know there are some amazing niche fragrances, but there are some excellent bargain scents too. $50 for 3.3 oz of Eau de Baux is a perfect example.

Using that price point as a guide - say, $50 and under for at least 3.3 oz... what are your picks for the best of the budget friendly men's fragrances?
I'm quite partial at the moment to Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin and that can be had for <$25 shipped! Also, don't forget Live Jazz, especially for this time of the year and Tommy Bahama Set Sail St. Barts and Very Cool. You might be able to catch a sale on A*Men too...it gets a lot of shit from some people, but I'm really fond of it. I am also growing fond of B*Men...it has that something I can't quite put my finger on.

Dunhill Man, all day. Its very generic but gets me compliments every time with 4-5 sprays. I got my 1.7 for like $30
post #4 of 33
Could not agree more than the two that were already mentioned: Eau des Baux and Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin.
Too many to mention at that under $50 price. I just tried vintage Eau des Baux today, actually, and wasn't impressed, though it may just be that my preferences are changing.

Body Kouros, Burberry London, L de Lolita...

The workhorses of my collection. Derek Jeter Driven, Driven Sport, and Driven Black. For around $50 you can have a day time fragrance that smells as good if not better than Acqua di Gio (Driven), a gym or running around fragrance (Driven Sport), and an excellent smelling night out fragrance (Driven Black).

Ferre's Bergamotto Marino.
It's long lasting and smells much more expensive than it is.

Burberry London is the first time I smelled magic in a fragrance. One of the best budgets out there.
Surprised nobody's said Rive Gauche pour Homme yet.
Estee Lauder Pleasures for me. It the best green musky fragrance I've come across period.

Acteur by Azzaro I find can be found quite cheap, here in Australia anyway and is a great fragrance.
Yatagan has the best bang for the buck of anything in my wardrobe.
Way too many to list, but a handful of my favorites are:

Giorgio for Men
JHL by Aramis (well, you could probably put the entire line here as all of them are at least "good" and many are great)
Encre Noir by Lalique
Azzaro pour Homme
Vintage Halston Z-14

Those before me have already made many great suggestions. I would add:

Cartier Pasha
Guerlain Vetiver
Uomo? Moschino

And just over the budget you mentioned:

Fahrenheit
Costume National 21

The best cheap frag of all time bar none is Old Spice. It has a note called "360" which basically comes full circle when we all reach 55 years of age and throw away all this shit we buy just to wear a $9 bottle of magical fragrance.

Hi all,

My first budget "blind buy" since my return to BN was Molinard "Patchouli" at nearly HALF the price you mentioned for a 3 plus ounce size bottle. I find it mellow, somewhat upscale and rather lovely. I think it however may be more suited for a somewhat older Gentleman.

Regards,
SixCats!

Anything from Jacques Bogart.
They last 12 hours on average, with great projection and can be bought for less than 30usd 3.4oz (online actually much less, normally 20usd)

Also, Brut. Smells AWESOME and costs 10usd for 3.4oz or 30usd for astonishing 25oz!!!!

L'Anarchiste by Caron - Upon application, one is treated to an impressive, citric accord. Mandarin, with its sweet, orange-like facet commingles with orange blossom, with its lovely floral and creamy sweetness, as well as a camphoraceous, indolic, orangey neroli. This citrus melange interplays with a metallic, mineral concoction of musty iron and acrid, fireworks-like, burnt gunpowder. This somewhat odd opening drifts to the heart. Here, wonderfully warm spices, to wit, cinnamon, with its spicy semi-sweetness, nutmeg, with its subtle, cinnamon-like spiciness, cardamon with its aromatic spicy, nutty and anise character, as well as clove, with its earthy spiciness, intermingle with menthol from cedar leaves. This enticing minty coolness interplays nicely with the warm spices, and encases the intriguing opening. A woody undercurrent of dry, cedar shavings and creamy sandalwood carry the exotic melange to the mollifying base. Here, a somewhat powdery, white musk, with its laundered-linen illusion, teams up with the green, yet clean, earthiness of vetiver to foster a sedate drydown. This well-blended and interestingly distinctive composition has average projection and longevity.

&

Black Soul by Ted Lapidus - Upon application, one is treated to a pleasing blend from the interplay of a bittersweet and peppery bergamot, a crisp and fresh, lemon blossom, a spicy cardamon, a slightly indolic neroli and a refreshing mint. Consequently, an all-too-familiar, sweet and spicy, bubble-gum smell materializes and wafts to the waiting heart. Here, in the middle, the bubble-gum-ish opening is immersed in an enveloping bath of fruity, medjool dates and raisins, sweetly warm and earthy cinnamon, and a hay-like and slightly honeyed floral from saffron. Transitioning to the alluring base, Chinese cedarwood imparts its camphoraceous, pencil shaving scent, while tolu balsam infuses its balsamic and cinnamic facets. A sweet and airy woodiness from gaiacwood also presents. Ambrocenide contributes its amber-like, woody character, while musk diffuses its soft and sweetly clean nuances. A comforting drydown ensues. This masculine, refined composition has average projection and average longevity, lasting about 8 hours.

These are "budget friendly" where you live?
Most of the others you mention are that down here, but the Aramis classic stuff always seems to have been fairly tightly controlled.

Getting Midnight in Paris EDP for less than $45 couple months ago from fragrancenet is just mind blowing to me (see Luckyscent price lol). That was a major win for me. Presentation wise, smell wise, this is sooo up there, but while it was available for cheap this was easily one of the top gems for the price out there, by far.
That Clive Christian No. 1 sounds intriguing...especially at this mythical price point!
