I know these VS Polls may get a bit old but I have never seen this particular designer head to head here on basenotes. With that said "of these two" (yes, I know they're are no doubt many better choices) IYO which is the better frag for a classy/sexy night out dancing/date scent?

PS FWIW I see La Nuit is 6th on the most female complimented sticky/list above and DHI is 36th.

I actually bought both at the same time, as I couldn't decide myself. I pretty much choose DHI over La Nuit every time. It's just so much classier, smoother and better composed. Although I tested La Nuit many times before buying, as soon as I owned it I felt it was too sweet and harsh. It actually gives me a headache. I'm hoping it grows on me again, but for now I'm reserving it for nights clubbing or somewhere I want to get noticed.

I'd like to add a few questions to this thread.

Dior Homme Intense seems to have been reformulated last year. Am I right about that? If so, do you still think DHI > La Nuit for a casual date night?

DHI hands down. If you like La Nuit, be sure to track down the Le Parfum version. It's better - fuller, richer, more interesting, much more like it should have been in the first place.

DHI is far better, but also less versatile. It's a special occasion thing.

La Nuit is trite, but not as bad as all that. I wear it to the office now and then. More of an everyday thing.

Now I know as the OP I asked for "your" opinion as fellow gents but I have to ask why (FWIW) La Nuit is rated higher on the "most complimeted" chart and DHI is not ranked as highly if it's the obvious better frag here on this poll? Is it that womans taste are so much more diff. than our own?

You have to keep in mind that on this forum you're asking the opinion of people who generally smell lots of fragrances. La Nuit will most likely get better reactions from "normal" people who aren't particularly into fragrances and that's reflected in the chart versus the opinions here.

So, you might say, DHI is more likely to be appreciated by fragrance lovers where as La Nuit is more likely to be appreciated by the general public. I'd say this is reflected in DHI's somewhat limited distribution versus La Nuit which is widely available globally.

in my experience I'd say both are my two most complimented ones. DHI for me though has certainly garnered more compliments (it''s a more unique smell that happens to be ridiculously good). La Nuit is a sweet designer frag done very well, and people will generally like the smell of it. IDK how it is for others, but in my case DHI is triumphant in the compliment category from others as well as my personal appreciation

I'll go against the grain on this one and pick La Nuit. I just don't care for the lipstick/iris accord in Dior Homme or DHI. It's unusual and unique if that's what you're going for; I'll give you that. But as far as general appeal to the public, I'd vote for La Nuit.

Do these two (La Nuit and DHI) really smell that similar? I haven't been able to find a place that sells DHI so I can smell it, but I want to. I kind-of like La Nuit, but it feels/smells a bit like a spiced sort of cocobutter (?) lotion on me. I don't know. I can't quite place the smell of what it reminds me of.

I also prefer DH to DHI although I love both. La Nuit....not in the same league but still a decent scent in my book.
