Just received an email from circles saying Pure Malt will be available in limited quantity on June 28th online only, USA Shipping Only!!!

thank you sir
Doesn't say limited quantity anywhere. I'm sure it will be just like the Pure Havane re-release.

Huh? Why do you think so? What makes you think it'll have been reformulated?
Checked my e-mail and saw it today. This will definitely be a buy for me. I've chilled a little on buying fragrances but this is definitely one I intend to blind buy.
Figures, I paid $150 earlier this year for a bottle
post #10 of 65
What I don't get, is that some people got an email notification and others didn't. I, for one, didn't get an email. I'm a Circle member and have filled up one virtual bottle already. I don't know what the process is of who gets these notifications and who don't.

I sometimes get random Circle emails, but have yet to receive a re-release notification thus far, neither for Pure Havane nor Pure Malt.

Thanks OP for the notification.
When you signed up for the circle you have to make sure to check the box that asks if you want those kind of notifications from them.

Their emails do seem kind of random. I got one for the Pure Havane rerelease but didn't get one today. (Maybe they purge their lists if you don't buy anything?).

Yeah. I sometimes get Circle emails about sales deals they have. I think I got the PC re-release email, but not the PH or the PM re-release emails. So weird. Oh well.
Damn, I need someone from the US to get this for me, dying to try it.
I already have Pure Malt/Havane and if I were to get a spare bottle it would be from Havane.

But would love a re-release of pure coffee...
I'll give them $55 for a 50oz.
Think this was mentioned earlier today in another thread. Anyway - good news for those who don't have it.
Damn! Never even sampled Pure Malt (been after this for ages) so to hear that it'll only be available for US shipping is a kick in the teeth. We have A Men here in the UK, but it's just not my cup of tea. Is Pure Malt anything like A Men?

Sephora's France website has PM. You can't order it from there?
Pure Malt is so much better than amen in my opinion... None of the overpowering tar note that is found in amen.. People describe pure malt as boozy , whiskey and berries..

Not familiar with Sephora, but if indeed the French branch stocks it, then I will certainly try!
Cheers.

No problem. Here's the link: http://www.sephora.fr/Parfum/Parfum-...re-Malt/P94912

Good luck!

How do you know?

You know what they say about those who assume?

Despite the negative speculation, I hope its alright.

I'm really disappointed with Pure Havane, its good and I like it but with the hype of it being a legend in the community...it wasn't really special.

I just bought Pure Havane when it came out, then I just ordered Dior Homme Intense, Bleeker Street 10mls, 30mls of MI and VIW...and now I need to buy Pure Malt?

When will I get a break?

Pure Chilli, Pure Havannne, and Sunessence are all said to be limited but all are still up....the marketing does work, because they have me thinking they'd be out of Pure Havane in a hurry but nope...its still there, I might just wait this time.
It will definitely be a terrible reformulation. You won't even recognize it. Girls will run screaming from anyone wearing it.

What you should do is pay $300 to someone who has stockpiled the original.

Hopefully the Pure Malt reformulation won't be as bad as the Spicebomb and Pure Havane reformulations last month.

The Pure Havane re-release smelled alot different than the original to you ?? it seemed like everyone in the havane thread was saying it was pretty identical.

Another question for those that already have Pure Malt, how long does one bottle last you ?? How often do you wear it ??
I received the email too. Great news!
I'm just wondering if we're gonna have minutes to buy it or weeks.
All of these limited distributions by geography suck!

Why do Mugler insist on making things unobtainable, it only fuels a secondary black market in the products.
Can you say Marketing 101, boys and girls? LOL.

I have 300ml of PM from it's initial release. I'm getting a little bored of Mugler's re-releases and marketing ploys to be honest. It doesn't make sense to limit the availability to one country; after all, do they really benefit from someone stockpiling and then selling for three times the original price? If they made these more widely available, surely the money going to them directly would increase. As the poster that I have quoted states, it only goes to fuel the grey/black market. Get it sorted Thierry!
if they keep re-releasing these every year then I will just wait for my old one to run out (seven months after purchase and i don't even think i am at 90% used)

Dont they always reformulate? Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed!

True.
I heard that the original whiskey barrels that the original formulation was aged in were not saved, so they had to create a synthetic "aged in a whiskey barrel" note. I think i will just stick with my 4 vintage bottles.....
I actually heard that they've been adding package store whiskey to the forumlation in order appeal to a broader demographic.

Does this mean we can also drink the reformulation?
Whiskey barrels are not hard to find. I know several micro brewers that age beers in used whiskey barrels regularly. There should be no need for this shortcut. Just sayin'.

I don't believe that Pure Malt was aged in whiskey barrels. That's silly marketing. They wouldn't be able to re-use the whiskey barrels because the barrels would have been overwhelmed by the scent of the last batch of Pure Malt. Also, aging a fragrance in whiskey barrels would require years and years of test runs to get the aging right. It's fun marketing, but I don't believe for even one second they really did that. Then again, marketing is irrelevant to me. If Pure Malt still smells great, I may be buying a bottle too.

Without the original whiskey barrel aging I doubt it will smell great.
Youre probably right. I actually only have about 10ml so i'll be grabbing a bottle.
I will post my thoughts of the reformulation when I have a chance to compare the two.
Why is everyone going on about the reformulation bs?
Am I missing some kind of inside joke?

I'm hoping its not serious, no one knows..but

Either way, I tried A-Men and liked it, Pure Havane and liked that, will plan on trying this and I will probably like it but jeez these fragrances are overhyped.

Yes.

I don't believe the fragrance was actually put into ex-islay whisky barrels - the whisky smell would be hugely dominant and natural (neither of which is the case). It's just marketing as others have mentioned already.
Me neither, the whiskey barrel always just seemed like marketing...has anyone ever emailed them about this?

I might end up doing so myself.

- - - Updated - - -

I wish they would do 1.7s of this instead of only 3.4s.

I will be decanting some of this along with my PH in the future.
They did submit a patent application for it. Admittedly it could be a vanity patent, but I have to believe that they tried it and used whatever came out of the process. Even an EDT treated by such an experiment would be too precious to toss, although they could have conceivably cut it with un-casked stuff if the changes to the scent were too strong.

Translation?
fut de bois means wooden barrel.
Besides that, in its entirely what was the patent for... cologne aging in barrels or what exactly?

Royaume-Uni is on the list and it means United Kingdom, so just choose this option.
Even with the patent, I still think it could be pure marketing. Years ago, I used to work for a company that had a really limited r&d budget. We used to leak bad ideas that sounded great in order to waste our competitor's time and money, knowing they'd steal the ideas. The best part was how we leaked the info: we just threw it away. We had a running joke that we should hang a welcome sign on the inside of the dumpster in front of our building. It would have been funny to actually do it, but it would have let them know that WE knew they were rifling through our trash, and we couldn't do that.
Who is ordering a bottle and also has a bottle from the original launch?
This is one I will consider!!! Thanks for the info!!!
Gary
According to the doc they've patented the idea rather than a detailed method and the fragrance should have been called Pure Brandy.
Maybe that's a future flanker?
