Thoughts on an Anti-Aventus

Thread Starter
There’s always a lot of talk at Basenotes about people wearing fragrance first and foremost for their own enjoyment. Yet, here is this fantastically popular fragrance that has a reputation for creating a sensation among others while often being all but invisible to the wearer.

Would you enjoy an Anti-Aventus, to whit - a fragrance that has pronounced projection, longevity, and enjoyment for the wearer, but is scarcely detectable to others?

I'm not talking about a skin scent, or anything that subtle. This would be a scent with significant, but extremely foreshortened, projection, and no sillage. It could only be shared by another -but perhaps vividly- who is inches away...

Does such a fragrance exist? Should it?

huh?

Just don't spray on the front of your neck and only do 4 sprays max.I could go down to 2 sprays and it would be enough. Too many morons get their hands on this stuff and proceed to take a bath in it. Can't fix stupid.

It's kind of hard to get the effect that you're asking. The closest think IMO is to dab a pure parfum - probably one small drop - on the collar of your shirt, in front, or just below that. You will enjoy whiffs of the scent, but most people around you won't really register anything. Otherwise, it's just too easy to leave a little bit of sillage, with almost any scent. Parfums are the best for shortening projection, IMO, but you can't overdo it.

Yeah, that would be great! LOL.

I would wear it if it existed and smelled good.

To the OP: I could see myself wearing that type of fragrance without any problem.

Of course I want to enjoy the fragrance myself and have others enjoy it too, aventus is one of the best fragrances out there

Can't argue with this ↓↓↓

I'm not sure such a fragrance exists -- it would seem to defy the laws of physics/chemistry.

But I will often wear one spray on the back of my wrist, as a test, or just for my own enjoyment, with no regard for whether others can smell it or not.

If it is Anti-Aventus, it must be good.

I do prefer fragrances that I can smell on myself, yes.

True.

Sure I would be happy with a fragrance like that if I loved the smell of it. I spend a good portion of the day with my wrist pressed to my nose anyway.
I don't think it could actually exist but the experience of dabbing parfum or oils, especially in cool weather, probably comes closest.
