It appears that all my favorite frags are in this category, so I'm watching this thread for more scents to sniff.

I think Lancome Magie Noire should be sampled by more men. It's a spicy, incensey and woody with an undercurrent of floral.
Agree about Coromandel and Sycomore.
Also, perhaps Acqua di Parma Profumo.

I can only think of one, instead of three, right now: Bvlgari Jasmin Noir
post #19 of 36
Sycomore as has been previously mentioned several times immediately comes to mind if I only could pick one... That said, Sous le Vent and Portrait of a Lady are up there as well (but those two are more unisex to me).

Also, Costume National Scent Intense

Hi all,

Good topic. Off the top of my head, I too have to say BANDIT and KINGDOM.

Fendi Fendi (discontinued) a patchouli bomb.
Green tea Lavender by Elizabeth Arden - like a fresh fougere.

CK Obsession Night EdP. Even women say it's rich pipe tobacco vibe is better suited for a male.

To me, the question is a little unclear. Do you mean fragrances marketed to women that we think are NOT appropriate for women, but more so for men? I would have a hard time coming up with an example of that.

On the other hand there are lots of fragrances marketed to women, that I think smell great on women, but that also work great for men.

Flower by Kenzo Oriental
Donna Karan Black Cashmere
YSL Nu
All of the Lauder female marketed analogs to the men's Aramis line -- Azuree, Aliage, Cinnabar, Aromatics Elixir.

I actually think there are a lot of men's fragrances that are often regarded as smelling particularly masculine, but that would work great on women -- for starters, the Aramis versions of the Lauders listed above, Antaeus and Egoiste, even things like Quorum and Polo (a lot of women might not have the guts to TRY to pull off the last two, but I think they would smell great).

I agree with Sycamore. I will add L by Lolita Lempicka and Bvlgari Black into the mix
post #28 of 36
Although they are "officially" unisex, two of Serge Lutens fragrances that were marketed directly to women, but seem more masculine to me are Serge Noire (the Edward Gorey-like drawing of the woman in the ads) and Fille en Angilles (the name itself, which I may have misspelled).

Never felt like that about a women's fragrance. All the ones I wear do have enough feminine traits.

Perhaps Bandit could qualify but I don't quite remember it very well right now as I've only tried my sample once yet.
All the best answers have been taken, but I'll add Voleur de Roses to the list (although technically, I don't think l'Artisan ever lists their fragrances by gender).
Interesting thread, I had no idea Sycamore was marketed as feminine. Jicky is pretty masculine IMO.

le Baiser du dragon
hypnotiq poison

To say that Sycomore is not suitable for a woman is just wrong!!!!!! Incredibly sexy on a female. Yes it can work on a man too. But mislabeled. Absolutely not.

Same thing with Bulgari Jasmin Noir. This is absolutely suitable for a female. But a man can wear it. It's not mislabeled.

I say anyone can wear anything he or she chooses, but:

More votes for:

Shalimar
Jicky
Vol de Nuit
L'Heure Bleue
Bandit
Cabochard

Adding:
Balmain Jolie Madame
Dior Midnight Poison

Theorema (Fendi, discontinued) and flankers

Sycomore is marketed as feminine? I agreee that it works as unisex, although my impression of it is fairly 'masculine'. Also, it was my understanding that it is an entirely different fragrance than the one Chanel marketed under the same name in the 1920s, which was marketed as feminine. Can anyone confirm this?

Definitely agree with Mugler Womanity. To me, it comes off as a salty, oceanic aquatic with a sweet/salty drydown.
