I hate Aventus!

Well, actually, I only hate it because it's so good

I'm a newbie and still at the early sampling stage - I possess only two bottles of fragrance and a handful of samples, and stuff like Aventus is way beyond my price level.

But I saw someone offering samples, and thought I should at least try it - and I expected to quickly conclude that it's nothing special and only made for people with more money than sense.

But how wrong I was! It's nice enough when first applied, but it develops even better. An hour or so after application I'm finding great projection, but it's weird - it seems stronger and fruitier with my nose a foot or two from my wrists than it does when sniffing my wrists directly! How can it do that?

It's still way out of my price range, though, unless I go a couple of weeks without food (hmm, I could do with losing some weight).

Did I mention that I hate Aventus?

It has its supporters and detractors, but I personally like it.
I just got a sample, and it grew on me, but I found the projection not to be that great. Otherwise, I like it overall.

It's a great one and very popular here.

Get in on a 50ml split and it becomes rather affordable!!

Ok it's official, we need a 30 day BN moratorium on Aventus threads. Actually make that all Creed threads

Aventus is probably the most hyped frag on this forum.

I talked to someone on here who told me he tried Aventus for the first time and couldn't understand the hype at all.

Other people however, the majority, I would think, are in love with it.

No lie! And you're hearing this from a Creed lover (OD-ing on Zesty Mandarine Pamplemousse at the moment! )

Remember back in 2008 when nobody could start a Creed thread because the trolls would go nuts and it would always end in a lock or a ban? I would have never dreamed it would come to this.

It's becoming the Chuck Norris of masculines!

Do you know what's behind Chuck Norris' beard?

A bottle of Aventus!

LOL

Q:How did Chuck Norris get his first bottle of Aventus?

A: He kicked Napoleon's ass and took it!

(The picture of the historic fight is on the Aventus bottle, but Chuck Norris was too fast to be seen by the painter's eye!)

It smells good for a couple of hours but the hype here certainly exceeds its qualities.
Meh, it's alright. There are far more interesting fragrances around.
The opening is nice, but it is all downhill from there. Not terrible, but not good either, IMO.
I really like Aventus, maybe because i simply like Apples and Pineapples and that's what sucks me into the majority that like Aventus.

another stealth marketing thread from creed!
I like Aventus. I think it works best in winter or cooler months, as the smokey/thick pineapple fumes can get cloying in the heat.

You know that it is a fine scent when you see the number of haters that come out to trash it.

I think the "haters" aren't trashing the scent itself but rather the cumbersome number of threads concerning it. I'm sure it's a dandy fragrance but every detail or story involving Aventus doesn't require its own thread

Love the Chuck Norris comparison. Aventus doesn't flush the toilet, it scares the S*** out of it.
Wow, wow and wow. Hate is a strong word. lol

To me its one of my fav in the summer, just love it

I like Aventus. A. LOT.

Yeah, no hate here. I actually have a certain sentimental attachment to my early flacon - i.e., I have no desire to part with any of it. The question is simply the number of threads. But honestly, I don't expect that to change, now that I think about it a bit more....

Aventus, like the Mugler "Pure" scents, is simply a current interest frag - not some quirky old niche frag or a bizarre new release, where you do a search to see if anybody ever heard of it, and post on that thread for the three guys who did.

New members love Aventus, and they want to give it a shout out. Sure - no problem. But if there's already an Aventus thread on page 1 or 2, they might as well use it. I agree that popping up the monster thread is a bit of a joke if you just want to give three cheers for Aventus. But there's a happy medium, which - importantly - doesn't turn Aventus into the butt of - say - Chuck Norris jokes!

I also have more to say about the whole stealth marketing thing, but not in this thread. I want to compose my thoughts a bit more. But the bottom line is that it's not so much devious as simply effective.

LOL Good luck with that. LOL

Aventus is quite simply the best fragrance ever created in my opinion.
I love it too and don't want it to end!

I once told a SA that I want to be bathed in it when I die

Love it!

What's sad is that people keep talking about a note that doesn't even exist in the fragrance (pineapple). That's what probably most irks me. I had a sliced pineapple and Aventus (sample) side by side last week, to once again confirm/deny the note inclusion, and quite simply: it just ain't there. I'm quite disappointed in my fellow basenoters for jumping on the Aventus bandwagon, to tell you the truth. I could see Youtubers hoppin on anything trending, but my fellow Basenoters? *sigh*

That's interesting, because when I first sampled it I had no idea it was supposed to have pineapple in it, and I didn't detect anything that I would have identified as pineapple.

But when I think of pineapple, I think of the fresh fruit and its acidic and ascerbic tones, or else I think of the artificial pineapple that is found in sweets and candies. And that isn't there in the Aventus.

But revisiting it, I do detect what I imagine is pineapple essential oil (or whatever form it takes) but without the sharpness.

Anyway, after a bit more sniffing, I really do like this stuff - but not enough to pay the price.
Oscraft, that's because it doesn't exist. It's like a placebo pineapple. People only speak of it because they are told it's there. Ask any 100 people in the world that haven't heard of Aventus or it's notes, and have them describe it, after smelling several notes, including pineapple, and I promise you, not even 1 person would mention pineapple as a note they detected in the fragrance.

I like Aventus, don't love it. Not enough ambergris in there for me. Others sure love it on me, though. My fave Creeds on myself are GIT and SMW easily. Only GIT rivals Aventus for compliments. All this said, I don't wear Aventus often enough!

But flouris, who is forcing anyone to enter the thread. If it does not interest you, then you can easily more on to another thread.

I love it and gets me a lot of compliments. On the other hand it's the most deceptive in terms of longevity and sillage. My nose quickly tunes it out while others can easily detect it for many hours.
