Good morning to a new work week !

I'm in the lascivious Amouage Lyric Woman Extrait today.

Amouage really outdid themselves when creating this and in particular the extrait version. One wouldn't believe given the mediocrity in the past 2 years or so.

Have a good Monday nevertheless (2 weeks for me to go - then 3 weeks off)!

Good Morning,

It may be the beginning of another working week, but I'm bunking-off early today to see Berlioz's opera Les Troyens - all 5 1/2 hours. Better bring some sandwiches. The tragedy is (apart from the story), that Berlioz never saw his epic work performed as a whole. Writing about the character Cassandra who predicted the fall of Troy, he lamented in his diary: "I shall never see my virgin priestess sing". I hope this new production does the opera and composer justice.

Oh, right. Perfume. Staying faithful to Guerlain: SotD is Eau du Coq, SotA/E/N will be Chergui.

Count down those days till holidays, Larimar !
Best to all.

Good morning everyone. After 5 days off, today I'm back to work...I'm not sure there's something to celebrate here, anyway I'm treated to some Ramon Monegal Entre Naranjos...

Good morning everyone.

No SotD yet, have to make my mind quickly as I have a doctor's appointment before noon. I guess I should chose something toned down so that other patients won't try to kill me with their basilisk eyes. Will update on the scent later!
---------------------------------------------------
Decided on my SotD - it's Police Pure DNA. Nothing spectacular, but easy to grab, easy to wear. Used to loved it more in the past, now I have few more scents I love much more than it.

Good morning! My SOTD is L'Occitane Immortelle de Corse.

Good morning.

I'm wearing Santal by L'Artisan Parfumeur.

After wearing this for a few hours I can tell where Dzing! got its inspiration from.

Dzing! is very reminiscent of Santal.

Santal starts out with a very lemony and civet'y , slightly like Ungaro II, but has a strong sandalwood presence. And not the Santal Massoia or Santal 33 sandalwood interpretation but a Santal Noble type of sandalwood.

Good morning all !. Still musing over the staggering ineptitude of England's performance in last nights football. What price the British contingent following suit over the forthcoming Wimbledon fortnight ?

Happy Birthday Divatologist

A break in the heat wave has me thinking 'LHeure Bleue. It's early morning (the other blue hour), so I shall apply, have a nice cup of tea, and go back to bed for an hour or so.

In fact, I think on waking I will go to Oscar de la Renta's VoluptéÂagain. It has more depth than for which I originally gave credit. Serene and green floral.

Good morning everyone! Still sore Jon?

Larimar, what a start to the day!!

G, enjoy your gig!

Well I have a lunch for a colleague who is leaving us, so a little dicreet Sel Marin, then I will join Donna later in Dior Homme for starting work at four.

Lucas, (from yesterday). I didn't like Eau Nior either, it's the coffee that does it for me. I love to drink it but not to smell as if I have spilled my espresso! Funny though, I REALLY like Eau Des Iles..

Good morning everyone! Just got back last night from a weekend in Paris. Had a lovely time visiting friends and my favourite perfume stores. Got myself some Serge Lutens Sa Majeste la Rose, Bas de Soie and A La Nuit, which I layer to create an amazing summer scent - a combination the SA introduced me to. It's a seriously heady, intoxicating scent.

Also had the JAR experience. The sales person was so serious, but my daughter and her friend were witty and charming (they are fun 19-year olds with deadpan humour) that we got him laughing with us in the end. I liked Bolt of Lightning but not enough to want one. My daughter rolled her eyes as the SA said of the scent; this one has no name but the bottle bears a "bolt of lightning". I also bought Guerlain Les Elixirs Charnel Gourmand Coquin for my daugther as a treat for completing her first year of university with distinction. I usually don't like gourmand scents but this one is a very good boozy rose chocolate.

Also went to Giverny for the first time. The weather was gorgeous and the water lilies were blooming in the pond.

Back in London and to reality and I'll be leaving for Tokyo tomorrow on business, which means it's time for incense shopping!

SOTD is SL Sa Majeste la Rose + Bas de Soie + A La Nuit

Have a great Monday, everyone!

sending hugs to devilcat.
wearing Rose Kashmiri by Parfums de Rosines, a lovely new discovery. Satisfies my need for rose without overwhelming my atmosphere. The myrhh is a beautiful grounding touch, the heart of peony elevates. Velvety texture. Hubby said it reminds him of the ocean, which is an illogical conclusion but understandable somehow. May actually need a full bottle of this.

Blue-Eyez, we are scent twins today! I really need to wear this one more often, love the wonderfully zesty opening and resinous ambery drydown. Lovely stuff.

Wish you all a good start to your week.

Just a quick call in from the work desk. SotD is Chanel No 19 Poudre quiet, subtle, sniffable, green and floral. Not a stunning as No 19 itself but less full on.

Still sending my best wishes to Devilcat

As inspired by cello, it is Hermes Hiris over the remainders of YSL (OMG!) Rive Gauche Intense from 4 am.

Hugs to the devilcat's whole family.

rtamara, it is interesting what our SO's "illogical conclusions" are, mine says "honeysuckle" about everything he likes while in fact there is often none.
Enjoy yourself tonight, G.! Please tell me if I am crazy or not after you do that No.5 side-by-side comparison!

(((Devilcat & family))). I'm very sorry to hear about Baxter. Went through the same with one of ours last year; took him to the vet because I knew it was the end. Was given hope and lots of meds only to get him home and have his suffering become worse. That is such a crushing feeling; wish it never had to happen to anyone. It's so very hard in these first weeks; hang in there. Much love to you and yours.

Sampling Amouage Opus I. Beginning to think this house doesn't make a scent for me. Just fine by me; already love far too many pricey things!
My dh says "honeysuckle" about jasmine.

More (((hugs))) for Devilcat today.

G., enjoy the opera. Maybe Berlioz is listening to his Cassandra somewhere, somehow.

Ladymurasaki, your Paris trip sounds like fun.

It's Divatologist's birthday today. Happy Birthday, Diva honey, wherever you are! I hope you are enjoying *your* day.

I am sampling 1889 Moulin Rouge from a sample scent Foustie scent me. These are, so far, fun sort of period vignettes that seem very nicely made. I tried 1969 last week and loved that one. I'm waiting to see how this one develops on my skin.

Have a good day, all.

Don't worry, Jon - Wimbledon will be great!

Good morning!

Many hugs to you Devilcat!!

Today is full of appointments, so it's going to be
a long day. Wearing Lancome Attraction at the moment
but will probably put on some Dior Escale a Portofino
before I leave home.

Have a great day!

Poor (((((devilcat))))) -- I'm very sorry to learn of the loss of your kitty.

In a bit of a funk lately, something that happens to me every summer so nothing to worry about, but it always seems to impact my desire to participate in BN. Not that I am a chatterbox to begin with! Anyway, if I am absent more than I am present, just know that it is my summer-funk most likely at work, and that I am thinking fondly of all of you.

I'm in Aoud Shiny today. Take care, all.

Edit: On other arm, I am testing the White Lilac and Rhubarb..oh mannn do I need a full bottle of this! Thanks so much for this discovery!--just read that this is a limited edition, drat!

We had a violent, freakish storm pass through this afternoon, with winds of over 60 mph, SHEETS of rain slashing down - I mean slashing sideways - trees bending in the wind like a hurricane, and hail in some places. Many people lost power. We lost power at our house for about 20 minutes, but it came back on. I feel sorry for those who are still without power because of trees down on powerlines (ours are buried in the ground). I was food shopping when it arrived. The store lost power, and it was dark in the store but for some light coming from the windows. A manager was going around telling shoppers to keep back from the windows - it was rip roaring by then and got quite scary - and then...it was over. I called my husband at home while it was going on and he and the dog were sitting in a closet (the only safe place in our house in case of tornado). When it passed I drove back home, taking a back street because the more direct street looked flooded. It all happened so quickly! Now, the sun is out and all is peaceful as if nothing happened, but the trees and branches lying about tell the tale. We were fortunate - we only lost another section of a Bradford Pear tree that had been partially sheared off in the same type of storm last year. They are ridiculous trees - purely ornamental, no pears, and they are weak in a storm. No other damage. It all took about 30 minutes and then it was gone, moving east across the state, this nasty little cell of violence. The weather all around the world is getting freakier and freakier.

Wearing Chantilly this evening, what else? I am addicted.
Oh, lilybelle, I am glad you are okay. I agree the weather is getting freakier and freakier. . . .
Lilybelle-so glad you are ok! I saw some video of that, that looked crazy! The weather is getting pretty nuts, for sure.
Thank you, Leesee and Kalli. It really was crazy. You know, you can be as *prepared* as anyone can be, but when it descends on you like that - you just have to hang on. This is happening so frequently now in so many places. Luckily, nobody was hurt in our area, as far as I know.
Lilybelle, it's a relief that there were no reports of any injuries. The power of nature can be a frightening force when unleashed in it's full fury - glad to hear you and yours are OK.
Lilybelle- wow - what a storm ! Glad you are okay ! Chantilly is a beautiful fragrance and one my Mom had when I was young. i remember the vintage bottles were a gorgeous design and as a child I was fascinated by that bottle.

For the gym , I ended up spraying on Fresh Sake - this one gets compliments about being clean and fresh which helps at the smelly ole gym .
Now I'm in Gucci Rush again because I am addicted .

I'm wearing Traversee du Bosphore today. This got quite a bit of play last summer in the heat ... it is slightly gourmand with a soft leather background, but it is light enough to wear well on a hot day like today. It's over 100 here again ...

Sending birthday wishes to Divatologist
