Olene

I am travelling around, and in a store here in Europe I saw Olene in the old, small square bottle. The tester smelled wonderful, rich indolic jasmine. So I decided to buy - I do not like the oval shape of the new bottle, and I was afraid that jasmine restrictions would put an end to the frag.

They probably had already. When I opened my bottle (already in another town), I had a big disappointment. the juice in the actual bottle does not smell of jasmine, but of an indistinct white floral, like a dreaded freesia-peony thing. Still quite raspy and indolic, which saves it somewhat, but it was not jasmine. The color of the juice, incidentally, was also different, transparent instead of orangey as in the tester.

If in the future I happen to stop by a Diptyque store, I shall check the new one. But has anybody had a similar experience with it?

My Olene is orange and VERY heavy on the jasmine. Its been a few years since I wore mine but I remember it being very jasmine dominant. I preferred wearing oud oil and burning oud under my clothes when wearing this since the jasmine is so strong.

No, I haven't (yet), but as I wrote in my Paris report, the new Diptyque bottles made immediately think about reformulations. Fortunatley, in my area, we still have plenty of the older bottles around...

hedonist:

thanks for the info. Yes, the orange juice seems to be the right one. Then hold tight to your unreformulated bottle!

note that the bad juice came in the old square bottle - I bought it exactly for the reason. So beware if you happen to be interested in it. Gotta smell the oval bottle... I was actually at campomarzio70 today, they did have the new bottles, but not for Olene.

Yesterday, I smelled the Olene in the oval bottles in a couple of places in Milano. Sadly, it smells exactly like my bottle-florist air, jasmineless, IFRA compliant. (Incidentally, the juice is pale yellow, not as clear as my bottle, but not as dark as the older version.)

Sad. Which makes me wonder: is it too late to stock up on Sarrasins. At least the day was saved when I found a bottle of Calandre-discounted too at 67 euros (Mazzolari), and smelled two things that are now on my to buy list, Miriam and Tubereuse la animale.
