Which of the two describes YSL's Kouros better.

To me, it's both, depending on what you detect.

To me it's just a very powerful but pleasant fragrance.

To me it's a great unique scent that develops nicely, though not very complex. Like many, I initially hated it but after leaving it alone for some time and coming back to it, I've learned to appreciate it.

Too bad others smelling Kouros on me don't have the ability, time and patience to see the fragrance for what it truly is (and no, it's not a urinal cake!). Thus, I could never wear it in public, especially in crowded places.

I can't see it fitting beautiful volcanic island but public washroom is a bit harsh IMO.

That's the reason why I would never buy Kouros. I would be the only one who would enjoy it.

I've gotten lots of compliments wearing Kouros.

What I don't get is the fear of wearing Kouros in public.

It's a popular mainstream fragrance -- don't be afraid.

An original and true classic and very wearable.

i sniffed this once from the atomizer in a sephora and it smelled exactly like a bathroom. The bottle itself almost looks like it was made to match the feel of a public bathroom.

For me Kouros is more a savory type of scent - quite addictive to smell .
I don't get public restroom.

Kouros was love at first sniff for me - a most beautiful (and wearable) animalic and leathery fougère.
I never associated public restroom with it.

It's funny how this is such a love or hate fragrance. I remember when this was really popular in the Eighties and it was "The" cool fragrance to have. I guess times and tastes change.

Kouros inherently isn't bad.

It's just unfortunate that the companies that made urinal cakes decided to make a scent that is similar to Kouros.

neither...it just smells a little sweaty, unpleasant, doesn't even feel "perfumy" to be honest. Cannot imagine me wearing this, it's just there but it doesn't do anything for me, except give off a slightly sweaty vibe. Might as well work out a bit and get a pump going, would still get a similar vibe.

Kouros is a very iconic and rovolutionary fragrance. It's just very special and hardcore and absolutely it's not for everybody. Period.

I really don't see anything controversial in the current formulation of Kouros. I was shocked when I bought a new bottle last year. In my opinion this special "thing" that made it loved by many and hated by many is just not there anymore. Kouros' new name should now be Kore.

To my nose, neither nor. However, strictly to my nose and strictly in my personal opinion, old, stale, musty, stuffy, dirty leather soaked in stale beer.

Kouros really isn't quite either of those things. It's just an incredibly complex and excellent example of a grand perfume. Perfumes like Kouros only come around once in a very long time for men. It's legendary.

Kouros is Sparta! Kouros is legend! Kouros is the king!
