tdem1961 Diorissimo score! Me too. While out ragpicking for my side-gig as a vintage slinger today, I came upon a small cache of 60s-70s editions of Arpege, Diorissimo, and Je Reviens. And though most people say finding perfumes when vintage bartering is common, I almost never come across any.

I'm not sure if I can pull off Diorissimo, though it's lovely. There's a full edt which smells beautiful and a smaller pure parfum, which smells a bit funny--like candy and sweat?--which I don't know, might be a good thing to some people, could be off as you say.

Congrats, Anomie et Ivorie! It's funny, Diorissimo is so different from my usual style (heavy orientals and gourmands) yet I had such a craving for it. I have never had the good luck to try the parfum so can't say what it's supposed to smell like.

Thanks alfarom.

The cdg store was..different. Only the CDG play fragrances were on display. All the other testers were tucked away in one drawer.
Really liking CDG.

Just took delivery of a 1oz bottle of Alien Liqueur de Parfum, ordered via Amazon from Tuccini in the USA, as it's impossible to find here in the UK. Very pleased to report that this is totally authentic, & smells gorgeous on me!
lt also takes me over my self-imposed limit of 50 bottles, but l justify this with the fact that some of my bottles are *almost* finished!

I bought Le Temps d'Une Fête by Parfums de Nicolaï today.

Earlier this month I was influenced enough by positive reviews to blind buy a Habanita tester from eBay. Just call me a lemming...
just arrived with the special courier last night so i'm giving it a full wearing today (the cold-ish, wet & grey london day helps), my first from this house (after extensive testing, i have narrowed it down to this one and 'memoir' which should be mine before the end of the year). i also like the personal touch of that little message and signature, i find it quite a smart idea. leave it to the ultra commercially savvy people of the middle east to think of something like this:

Enjoy! I have quite fallen in love with Volupté, a perfect green floral for the summer, beautiful beginning and middle, with a fresh yet deep powdery ending.

Hi forfreddie. Well, I got Orange Star, Miriam, Incense Rose, Pentachord Verdant, Zeta and Un Rose Vermeille.

I'd say the only one I didn't care for too much was the Pentachord, but I do appreciate the earthy, dirt notes to it. I just got too much dirt/soil notes and I was hoping for more green/foresty notes. But I just got a really strong, wet soil note. I knew the wet soil note was in there, I was just kind of not wanting it to be that strong. It's really like I am digging in wet soil. Orange Star is a very nice, sparkly orange but seemed to turn really soapy on me. The Miriam I think is pretty nice but I kind of wish the citrus was played down just a little bit. It's really citrusy, almost overkill on the citrus and I am wanting more of what's underneath it-like a Chanel/Lipstick Rose vibe-which I get more as it dries down a bit but that opening citrus is almost too much. Incense Rose, no complaints there. That's a nice one, Knit was right. I love how it starts off with that sweet clementine/bergamot and gets increasingly darker, more beautiful. I just keep sniffing that one over and over. I love the way it develops. Very nice. Rose Vermeille- I really feel again, too much sweet citrus and really sweet berries that seem to fight with the beautiful rose for a while. It is a gourmand rose but I do kinda wish it was less sweet, so I can get to that rose! I don't really care for the dry down on the Vermeille, just personal taste there. It just reminds me of Armani Code Elixir a bit and I just can't stand that one. Even the slightest resemblance to that one..and I am like, ok it's over. Lol. But I really get nice roses from Tauer..dark, a little oily/dewy, just nice. Zeta-very nice rose, there's that sweet citrus again but it's not too sweet, not too overpowering or lingering, therefore, I can focus on those nice florals. I think he likes orange and sweet citrus a lot. I will try more cause I really haven't smelled anything like his scents out there. I would love a rose soliflore from Tauer..that I would definitely try!
Just realised I have been posting in the June thread!

I bought a "vintage" 05 Miss dior Cherie and it is as beautiful as I remember it being...

Then, last week, I went to Paris, and brutally murdered my wallet there....

Guerlain's Gourmand Coquin - the only exclusive that I went "oh wow" to (and I've only ever said "oh wow" out loud once before, and that was to Amouage Memoir). Apparently it is unpopular, but this lady covered in bitter chocolate and sweet fruits (with a drop of some nice alcoholic comfort drink) does not care.

Les Parfums de Rosine Rose Praline: YUMMMM (but in a different way from the previous Guerlain)

Les Parfums de Rosine Poussiere de Rose: I dismissed this when I first sampled it, but I realise it is a loyal beauty. When I am not anosmic to it (it's really weird how that works), the gorgeous incense makes itself known, but in that Rosine manner that's light and not "in your face HELLO I AM A PERFUME" thick.

Serge Lutens (could I REALLY leave without a bell jar?!) Boxeuses: This is the more serious older brother of Parfum d'Empire's Aziyade on my skin, and he wears a jacket with some leather on it. HELLO CHRISTMAS SPICES.

Then I came back, and the guerlain fever got to me... Enter Jicky EdP.... Then I luckily got the 125 ml unopened tester of Pamplelune for the price of a 75ml bottle, thanks to my awesome online perfume store not having any in stock!
zubi, great choices! I love Pamplelune! It's great for summer! And you're on a perfume buying craze aren't you! You really bought a lot lately!

I *did* say I went to Paris! It's a marvelous excuse! *hides*

I have been told it'll quiet down (by other people who went through this phase).... The guilt when looking at my perfume drawer is enough to make me start selling a few bottles (I have been collecting terrible fruity blind-buy florals since I was 16, so the collection looks gigantic, but I only use and love a few).

I shall stop... soon... just after I get a bottle of (insert fragrance family here)... :P
post #100 of 197
Haha! I'm sure you'll stop soon and then you'll be buying only what you really LOVE!

Honestly, I'm buying a new perfume myself soon too! At the beginning of August, two more weeks to go before I'll click the "purchase it" button.

To be honest, the last month I've ONLY been buying what I seriously love, so I'm pretty proud. I only did not like one that I bought (Ambre Russe), and that (I suspect) I will end up loving again (as I loved it when I bought it).

Ooooh what are you buying??

Ambre Russe is definitely not my favourite among Parfum d'Empire line.

I'm buying Iris Nobile in EDP from Acqua di Parma It's wonderful, that's the iris I need in my iris collection.

I admit I haven't tried Miriam Although I am desperate too.
Incense Rose is a beautiful composition - I have a bottle and have recently began picking up bursts of clove (which I normally hate but in here make me swoon!) the thick syrupy citrus along with the sparkling rose and dark incense - oh man it's just so good.

Please try and stick with Orange Star, this fragrance affected me so much, I think it is utterly perfect start to finish. There is a slight soapiness to it - from a squeaky clean orange blossom, but with the amount of Tauer-ade dirty-ing up the base, it just balances into this perfect harmony and is in my mind - the best citrus fragrance on the market.

Rose Vermeille is a lovely rose gourmand, but I prefer the bitter bay leaf of Une Rose Chypree in the homage line - it's fascinating. And as for the Pentachords - I have to agree, they are a big departure from his usual work and something that I think all of us are struggling to "come to terms with" :')

Lovely write-ups thank you

Well, if you are a Tauer fan, Miriam is definitely one you would probably want to sniff, and should. Like I said, I really didn't like that burst of citrus, but other than that, it was nice. I do want to try that Un Rose Chypree and Eau D'Epices. I am wondering what he does with cinnamon. Not sure if that was really a great write up, lol, but thanks!. Ya, that Orange Star, I loved it upon first sniff, but ya, the soapiness..was just a bit much. But I will sample again. Thanks Forfreddie!.

Yes it was super fun; I felt like a 4 year old who had just met a disney princess when I went to the different flagship stores.

I plan to go again - more prepared this time - in September before I move back to Africa.

Not sure I should post it here as I didn't buy it, but Mr Ali bought me 75mls (he will learn only small bottles in time) of EL Amber Ylang Ylang for the Play-Doh notes!

He rarely buys me scent as he's wary of my tastes but he got one whiff of this when I shop sprayed it then kept asking to sniff through the afternoon, which culminated in him asking for the biggest bottle they had! Its very pretty, has the longevity of a cockroach without thermonuclear sillage. Maybe not my favourite scent but I shall certainly wear it to make Mr Ali happy
