Cologne for work - need suggestions

Hi all,

so currently I have La male, 1 million, Issey miyake and versace eau fraiche.
I cant wear la male and 1 million to work, that leaves me with issey and versace, but they don't last on my skin.

I am trying to find some sophisticated but also young type of cologne for work, that has good projection and lobgevity but not too loud that it becomes offensive. I want something that if I walk down that hall and someone passes me they are like...wow that smells good, wonder what perfume/cologne that is.

I am thinking of trying out Chanel egoiste or Burberry touch.

Can you guys recommend something that is mainstream and readily available in nordstrom or sephora or online.

Although I am not 100% sure on the longevity and projection... Versace Pour Homme is a very safe office scent, it smells wonderful, gets compliments and is not over powering as to offend anyone you may be working with.

Chanel Egoiste seems little too grown up for me (i'm 28) so my go-to scent for work is Terre D'Hermes. A very versatile scent that lasts good 6+ hours for me.

Chanel egoiste is a great scent! I'm 28 and I wear it at office!! Try guerlain vetiver, one of the best vetiver ever IMO

Egoiste would be a good choice, also Terre d'Hermes EDT.

Terre d'Hermes is what you are looking for, IMO. I don't really know what a "young type" of fragrance would be (albeit it appears we have very different tastes as I am not a fan of any of the ones you mention in your OP). I generally don't distinguish scents by age group.

So I ended up going to nordstrom, they had 1 bottle of chanel egoiste, but I bought the PE, I somehow liked the PE better.

Got a few samples too, mont blanc or something, tom ford original, spicebomb, brooks brothers and jaipur and I love NY.

The PE is fine, but I am getting around 4 hours from it, I also am finding that if I spray it on clothes, it does not stay long, I can't smell it on my shirt at all. (Very strange)

I also got another sample called extraordinaire or something and I really like the smell, but can't find out anything about it.

It came from fragracenet a few months ago and I discovered the other day.

I am hoping that Tom ford and jaipur and spicebomb last on my skin, as I like these fragrances. How are they in terms of silage and projection.

YSL la nuit, love it but does not last on me

My fave work scents:

Versace The Dreamer
Tom Ford Grey Vetiver
Brooks Brothers New York Gentleman
YSL Rive Gauche (a very mature and classic vibe, but to me seems ageless and timeless)

All give me good longevity, perform well with a office-level application (i.e. not dousing myself and overpowering those around me) and strike me as evoking mellow confidence, pleasantness & seriousness. When I wan't to go a little more playful or "interesting":

Terre d'Hermes (or Voyage) or Mugler Cologne

By the way, Grey Vetiver by Tom Ford has awful projection for an EdP with the scent cloud lasting 1-2 hours, and average longevity. I am not about to settle for mediocrity when superiority can be had. I'll look elsewhere for my vetiver fragrance.

like many here, my go to work scent is terr d'hermes, albeit the parfum and not the edt. this works in all seasons.

i sometimes also wear l'homme, pasha or burberry london to work depending on the season.

Really? Personally, I've to go very light on the trigger. It can grow like crazy with body heat - I'd actually prefer this was released in EdT. I easily get 10 hours.

1. egoiste is great, but if you found le male unwearable at work, i'm questioning how well egoiste would wear
2. don't buy retail, you will overpay in most cases.

Burberry Touch is solid. It goes floral on me in a way that can grate if I'm not in the right mood.

+1 Versace Pour Homme; that's a great-smelling bottle of stuff there, and inoffensive in a good way. I have about a half dozen things in my work rotation, but the mainstream ones I reach for most are Dior Homme Sport and Bleu de Chanel. I've drawn compliments on the former, and both seem to last for the full work day (more or less) on me.

And if you can find it, Chanel Edition Blanche is great; my favorite from that house (so far -- I haven't tried the regular Egoiste).

Also, this is non-mainstream but I have to mention that Creed's Original Vetiver is my go-to right now.

Glad you said that. I have found tha TFT Grey Vetiver to be one of the least enjoyable vetivers I have tested.

One more vote for Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver. I do agree with the projection comments, but I think it's lack of superior projection is what makes it so workplace safe.

If you're over 25 and a bit mature, then Terre d'Hermes is a good choice as well.

Whatever you chose, go light on it.

Blue de Chanel is a solid work fragrance. I also like Versace pour Homme and Burberry Touch. I would also suggest Prada Infusion d'Homme.
