Animale Animale for Men

So, I purchased Animale Animale for Men recently, and I've read about it being like A*men without the tar note... however, to me it literally smells like tires/rubber, or some kind of chemical that is used on new tires. However, I do like it as well, but that smell is concerning.

Imagine walking in a Walmart or Toys-R-Us or an auto store that sells tires/bicycles and you're in that aisle/area.

I'm not sure if the juice has gone bad or not, but that's the kind of smell I think of.

However, my Dad seemed to enjoy the smell, and perhaps my daughter and step-Mom as well.

What's the deal. Hah.

I'm a newb when it comes to fragrances and picking out/identifying notes; so what might this smell likely be from? Sandalwood/moss/vanilla? One or more combo out of those three notes?

Thank you .

Edit: Is there a site where I can check manu. date for the Animale brand?

I never got the connection with A*Men and I have both.

You can't smell any chocolate in Animale Animale?
Can anyone in your family smell it?

To me, it's not the same sort of smooth chocolate as in A*men or Rochas Man, but it's still chocolate.

Renato

Patch + pineapple Ã* go-go.

Does remind me of A*Men and/or Angel. I do get some chocolate but only after a while. Didn't like it too much at first but now I rather enjoy it, esp in winter. I'd file it alongside A*Men as one of the butcher gourmands.

Thanks for the replies, do any of you get a rubber tire or something smell from it? It seems so prominent to me, hah. However it might lessen and the frag smell better as a whole after it's been on the skin for a while, .

I sort of had the same experience when I first got it; during the first couple wearings I got some strange and harsh notes from it. Not sure if the bottle just needed to expel the bit of juice that had slightly turned in the straw or what, but subsequent wearings have been much better. My partner similarly disliked the first spray from the bottle (we were together when I first wore it), but complimented me when I wore it later.

I never got any kind of rubber or tire note at all. In fact, Animale always seemed a pretty smooth gourmand fragrance to me, centered mainly around pineapple, chocolate, vanilla, and a woodsy oakmoss dry down. Could be some funky juice ya got there.

Too many fragrances get compared to A*Men. Animale Animale, Rochas, MJ Legend, New Harlem, the list goes on and on. To my nose.. none of them represent each other. A*Men is so very complex.

I agree. They're all sweet gourmands as far as a category goes and that's about it.

The thing is, Animale Animale came out around a year before A*men did. The fragrances should really be compared to it rather than to A*men.

Haha, it seems the thread has gotten derailed.

Anyways, I've sprayed it more and that particular smell seems a lot lessened than before. Perhaps it was from juice that was in the plastic tubing? I don't know.

It's been awhile since I had a bottle of this, but I remember it smelling like rootbeer.
