Hi. My name is Josh and just signed up here on the forum. I haven't worn a cologne in probably about 2 years and I am excited to start trying some fragrances out. I just got back from my local mall and picked up some designer samples.
I picked up
La Male jean paul gaultier
Light Blue D&G
Versace Pour Homme
Chanel Allure Homme sport
and A*MEN by thierry mugler
and a couple others I didn't ask for but she threw in anyway.
I'm going to be wearing these and trying them out.

Just saying hi and any suggestions are welcomed.

Welcome to Basenotes and happy sniffing!

howdy Josh. Keep trying them. If opportunity presents itself, a few other readily available designer frags you might wanna try are:

Bleu de Chanel
Tom Ford Extreme
Gucci Guilty Intense
Terre d' Hermes
Dior Homme
YSL L'Homme and La Nuit
1 Million
Spicebomb

Have fun.

Welcome Josh,

You have come to the right place as the kind and delightful folks on BN will help you in anyway they can.... I hope you brought a sleeping bag and pillow though because you will not be leaving anytime soon .

From the sample you listed I have only tried and owned two...
D&G light blue - This one is nice light citrusy scent but a little to light for my taste.

Versace pour homme - one of if not my favorite scent. Something about this just makes me think straight out of the shower, fresh clean and crisp light citrus smell.

Something not on your list you may want to try is Givenchy Play Intense, this one is a magnificent peppery / coffee / vanilla type smell to me.

And as Shiny Beast mentioned Terre d'Hermes is wonderful as well.

Wow, thanks for the replies and welcomes. I am seeing that this is a very active forum / community which is great!
I actually received a sample of Terre d'Hermes in the bag as one of my surprises the sales lady gave me.
The other two were Voyage d'Hermes and L'Homme Libre YvesSaintLaurent.

On a side note I feel like I need to pick up some unscented deodorant. I work inside and out and with this heat deodorant is essential but I would like to experience my frag's without any confusion.

Thanks again for the suggestions and replies.

After you've test driven some frags, holla back about what you dig and perhaps someone can point you in the right direction as to what else might be up your alley.

You picked some good colognes to sample.

Here's a short list

Acqua Di Gio - very common, but it success stems from its quality
Cool Water - green/aquatic great emulation of an expensive Creed
Fahrenheit - masculine floral, redolent of gasoline and fresh-cut grass
Dreamer - tobacco, lily, and vanilla. very unique, gets better after each hour.
A Men - i'm not a fan of this one, but many people love it. gourmand with some heavy notes.
Egoiste - sweet woodsy, powerful and masculine.
1 Million - relatively new fruity bubble-gum scent, mostly natural, good for clubbing
Terre D'Hermes - spicy, peppery metallic earth, fresh citrusy, professional and versatile
Polo (original/green) - very masculine, old school, spicy and powerful
Dior Homme - sweet gourmand, but powerful masculine, highly recommended
