Which scents brings you good 80's memories?

As a hard rock lover, 80-s reminds me glamour. Leather jacket, hair spray mousse, and so. Scents had no shame of being loud even if it could fall in a disaster release. It was just part of youth effusion. I think, by the way the new movie of Tom Cruise called Rock of Ages will try to show that crazyness of 80´s also. By now, which scent gives you a imagine that :" oh boy, that years should be (were) great ..."

Krizia Uomo is the first fragrance that comes to my mind. I was 15 and used to literally bath in it.

I still have a few drops left...

Kouros, Aramis 900, Antaeus and Cacharel Pour Homme.

All worn by me and my brothers when we were on the terraces (football) in the mad 80s.

My first approach with the world of parfumes: Polo RL, V&A PH, Drakkar Noir, than Fahrenheit, Romeo Gigli Classic Pour Homme, vetiver and Habit Rouge Guerlain.
Kouros... I dislike this fragrance on myself, but i tend to love it when my older uncles wear this.
Kouros and.... Van Gils. When I recently smelled the last one, I had to get used to it again. Too heavy unless very modestly applied, but still great when properly used. Lasts for hours and gets more pleasant every hour. It really takes me back to my younger years.

Preferred Stock (vintage)
Polo
Drakkar
Eternity
Escape
Obsession
Cool Water

I think these all came out in the 80s or around that time.
Chanel pour Monsieur Concentree
Versace l'Homme
Armani Eau pour Homme

... among others, though I was too young to get to know this age properly, these scents somehow make me think about how this age may not have been really like, far more about how I would perceive an ideal image of this decade.
Definitely:
Polo (green)
Drakkar Noir
Obsession

...but also some stuff from the 90s that I wore:
Cerruti 1881
Havana
RL Safari

Going further back than either of these - Tabac Original as I used to wear that a lot in the 80s as a young boy
post #15 of 50
I wore Drakkar Noir and Tuscany. I can't wear them today as I wore myself out on them!!!!!
Pierre Cardin and Stetson we're the first colognes I ever tried. Summer of '86, best time of my life!
Original Polo, of course.
Everyone used to wear Original Polo and Kouros, they were the cool frags for that time.
In my college apartment we wore:

Polo
Drakkar Noir
Lagerfeld
Paco Rabbane

But, of these, Polo rocked the hardest.

On the male side these:

Macassar
Antaeus
Nino Cerutti
Kouros
Egoiste

Popular men's fragrances (for high school and college age kids, at least) throughout the 80's included, but were not limited to:

Polo
Chaps
Jovan Musk
Halston Z-14
Drakkar Noir
Grey Flannel
Lagerfeld
Obsession
Xeryus
Fahrenheit (the last year or so of the 80's)

I'd say that would be my top 10, in no particular order....

EDIT: I should note that these were what was popular at my high school and university during the decade, and I live in the United States

In HS I was pretty loyal to Polo and Polo Crest. I also had a bottle of Drakkar. In fact come to think of it I have bottles of these three still today. (hides).

Another dude I went to school with always smelled amazing and I was too embarrassed to ask him what it was. Years later I've come to the decision that it was Azzaro Pour Homme or Tuscany. Both share similarities, but I wish I knew which one it was. I am inclined to think Azzaro as it was more mainstream and popular.

Any of those scents definitely take me back.

I got asked to the Reverse Dance (girls ask guys) and I wanted to impress...

After finding the loudest cardigan and sheerest Rayon golden pants, I hosed myself down with...

PREFERRED STOCK.

It was a splash on bottle, so I probably used at least 2 oz. before getting into the car with my Dad, who scolded me for being so irresponsible with my lawn mowing money. He says " You should have just used my Canoe, it's good enough for your mother."

I wish the new stuff smelled the same, but I bet if I looked around Mom's house, I'd probably find that old cardigan (worn once) and find remnants of that night.

As well as the ones already mentioned I would add Zizanie de Fragonard and the amazing Opium.
I can't believe no one has mentioned Giorgio BH yet! I went through three large bottles of this stuff in the mid to late 80's as an undergrad/grad student. And this was when it went for $75 a pop.

In h.s. I often wore the original Oscar de la Renta* and Polo (of course!).

P.

*That should be Oleg Cassini.

Opium was not around during the 80's, it was released in 1995.

Polo, Drakkar Noir, Tuscany, and Fendi Oomo were probably the only fragrances I wore in the 80s. These scents remind me of The Replacements and Husker Du.

Opium pour Homme was released in 1995, but that is not the scent JDBIII was talking about.

Look at the title of this sub-forum:

MALE Fragrance Discussion

I know that the "FEMALE" version was around during the 80's, but that's for a different forum (http://www.basenotes.net/forums/21-F...nce-Discussion).

And I don't care what your or anyone else's sexual orientation is or if someone likes to dress in women's lingerie and wear lipstick.....this is still the MALE fragrance discussion area.

I was referring to the original Opium. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing Opium Pour Homme.

First, I just want to say that I should not have said "...you are wrong". I should have put it more politely than that ( as in, "I feel you are mistaken" or something along those lines).

Second, it is pretty much a norm here to talk about female scents. Guys wear Habanita, Opium, classic Guerlain femmes.....etc. I myself enjoy Gres Cabaret EDP. Other favs of mine are L'air de Rein and SMN Opoponax. Anyways, you get the gist.....

Yeah, it is a male fragrance forum. But that includes fragrances worn by males. Plus there are many fragrances listed as unisex to complicate things. Even then, women come here to talk about femmes they wear as well, and its all good. It adds alot to the threads. I would easily say the brightest minds here are from the Female board.

Last, lingerie/lipstick/orientation have nothing to do with anything here. Its a fragrance forum. As well, if we are comparing, it is essentially an apples to orange comparrision. This debate is essentially deja-vu ( seems to happen every 3 months).
