Montale

I have used montale black aoud, Kabul aoud and aoud leather. I want to buy two more montale perfumes for men. Which one is the best in longevity and projection.
All Montales have enormous projection and longevity. If you like something more animalic than aoud leather, you can check Oud cuir d'Arabie. I also like Aoud Lime a lot (saffrony).

Dark Aoud is a great fragrance and has as with all Montale's great projection and longevity.
Attar & Aoud Forest
Is Oud neccesary? if not indulge yourself with some Sweet Oriental Dream or Blue Amber. I love Red Aoud too.
I like Red Aoud and Aoud Cuir D'arabie, and from the non oud line Patchouli Leaves.
Dark Aoud.
Dark Aoud
Full Incense
You have Kabul Aoud? Please tell us about it. There are no reviews anywhere and although I have no doubt it exists, Montale used to claim it does not. Very curious about this one so please share your thoughts!

Oh, I also like Aoud Lime and Dark Aoud a lot!
My picks would be Dark Aoud and Oud Cuir D'Arabie.
Red Vetyver
Sweet Oriental Dream
Blue Amber
Red Aoud
Royal Aoud
Lime Aoud
Wild Aoud
Dark Aoud...

so many!
Moon Aoud is very nice. And +1 on Full Incense.
IMO, you can't go wrong with:

Oud Cuir d'Arabie
Louban
Black Musk
Wild Oud
Red Oud

These all smell very distinct and unlike each other.

For a non-oud offering, Chocolate Greedy is pretty great.

Does Montale still exist? Hard to find any signs of life...

As top note you will get cedar with a herbal touch. Then you get coffee and something like patchouli. ending up with guaiac wood. Longevity is good. But projection is less compared to black aoud.

Red Aoud by Montale - Upon application, an explosion of warm and vibrant, red pepper, coupled with the mustiness of aoud and a lovely, rich, red, fully-bloomed rose, with faint, lemony pixies flitting about, bestir for recognition. This vivacious blend frolics to the middle. Heaps of saffron, with its earthy and dusty, floral aspects, tame the adventuresome pepper and rose, aided by a muted, yet biting, anise from the keen cumin, and further assisted by a winsome, mysore sandalwood, which imparts its buttery and sweet woodiness. This sensuous melange covorts with the magical aoud, giving rise to hints of an inoffensive powderiness as well as a delicious cocoa, and flows to the awaiting base. Here, in the capable base, as the beautiful rose fades away, the drenched, citrusy greenness of haitian vetiver, empowered by the enabling orris, steps forward to morph the melange aforementioned into a delectable, chocolate drydown. This sexy and potent composition has very good longevity, 10-13 hours, and projection.

Red Aoud

"Explosion of warm and vibrant, red Pepper....." Wow! Sounds like a power house fragrance.
From the ones I've tried, Aoud Lime, Dark Aoud and Red Vetyver have great projection and tremendous longevity.

Is it still possible to order directly from Montale?

Was looking at getting Dark Aoud and perhaps a small 20ml bottle of some Attar. :\\

No, they're not currently accepting orders like they used to. They're saying until September. And I have a feeling that the goody 20 ml bottles will no longer be gifted when they re-open, which is a true shame.
Does Montale continues to ship orders by mail?
Anybody knows?
Thanks :-)

That's really unfortunate I guess. Buying scents directly from Montale is by far the best deal.

And I don't see why they would remove the 20ml gift idea, unless there is a big change in how the company runs. Who knows I guess.

Incense Aoud is nice.
White Aoud
compliments Black really well
I really just hope that they do in fact open again.
Would love to see them resume regular business also.
I just picked up Blue Amber and Dark Aoud. Love them both. You should definitely check them out.

Has anyone actually had contact with Montale lately? Made a phone call or email that a person actually answered? Seen some definite signs that they are still in business?

I have been asking but no one seems to have a clue if they still exist or not.

Where did you order from? The Perfume Shoppe?
I do enjoy Red Aoud right now, it seems different enough to warrant a purchase to me. A lot of the oud scents just don't hold up to me, there's a certain cheapness I get from the line...might just be in my head. Black Aoud was completely underwhelming to me, and a few of the samples I've gotten (Aoud Ambre, Vanille Absolu) have not given me reason to change my opinion. With such a large line and a decent number of fans though...I'm waiting for the one to wow me. I'm interested in trying Dark Aoud though...and some of their non-oud scents.

I don't think they're worth what they ask for them in stores though...I would never buy one without a discount. Back when they were in business I got a quote of around $160 for 2 50ml and a 20ml, I would take that offer again if they re-opened. Fingers crossed.

Try Aus Liebe zum Duft.com

+1 for Dark Aoud. If you want something other than an Aoud, Blue Amber is fantastic.

I asked the same question....twice in the forums yesterday. Got no responses. They closed down the Paris store, Pierre has been discredited in the rumor mill as to taking credit for scents he didn't make alone. They don't sell anything anymore on their website...
On their Facebook page they're saying that they will reopen the shop in late September. Let's see if that actually happens and what will be left of Montale by then, also if they continue with their sweet deal of a free 20 ml bottle when you ordered 100 ml or 2x50 ml, which was pretty much worth it.

Simple answer, no one knows.
Almost everything that they have said since December has not happened. They push back dates of reopen, give up their phone number, won't answer emails, and distributors are back ordered. I looked over their perfumer Ammar Atmah's facebook page but aside from saying he worked for Montale, the rest is religious Islamic stuff and anti Israeli propaganda.

I bought them locally at a shop called parfums de France in Tyson's Corner, VA. You can call them, I believe they will ship.

Blue Amber.

Montale is open for business as normal. I have just spoken to them today and the current offer is:

EU100 per 100ml bottle with a free 20ml bottle. EUR10 shipping to the UK.

I need to fill in the blank to complete the order

1 * Black Aoud - 100ml
1 * Aoud Leather - 20 ml (free)

1 *
1 * Black Musk - 20ml (free)

Help me fill it.

CORRECTION: I was told that They are NOT shipping to the USA at this time. They are only shipping to The UK and Europe.
Well Bgoc, there are some cheaper Montales that cost 80€ (Sweet Oriental Dream, Patchouli Leaves, Black Musk, Vanilla Absolu...)

If I were you i'd choose either Blue Amber, Sweet Oriental Dream, Red Aoud or Patch Leaves. Dark Aoud is quite good but a bit austere and dry for my tastes.
IMO, Louban is smoother than Black Aoud, Almost the same scent. If you like leather, what about Cuir d'Arabie?

Thanks for posting this!!

Is there a minimum order and with which method can you pay?
I also personally think that Black Musk and Black Aoud are too similar to have both. I would choose a different one instead of one of those two.

By the way: much cheaper shipping than to Spain. We are also a neighbouring country, so wtf?
I got a response by email from Montale. They will not ship to the US anymore. Sad. No more free 20ml bottles and no more extra concentrations...

Dear Customer,

We don't send in USA. We are at Bergdorf Goodman or you can pass an order on luckysent website.

Sincerely, Amélie

So I went to the Bergdorf Goodman website and searched for "Montale" and"Black Aoud" and got no results. Went to Luckyscent and they carry only 50 ml size Dark Aoud for $110. Looks like I will have to search harder or give up on Montale. Just hope that when and if the Paris store opens that they resume their previous policies.
I would assume one 100ml or two 50ml bottles would be the minimum. Shipping is eur 10 or 17 depending upon the quantity ordered.

I have a new plan:

100ml black oud
20 ml aoud cuir d arabie

100 ml of sweet oriental dream
20 ml full incense

Great selection bgoc

Ah, thanks for that bgoc! Time to do the number-crunching and see if it's cheaper to buy from that German site...

True, but Montale gave free 20ml bottles with purchase, I just don't understand their logic, the USA accounted for more than half their sales, and there are no shipping restrictions like in Germany...Sometimes Montale does some stupid things...

Just checked...128 Euros ($165)for a bottle of Cuir d'Arabie is expensive. MOST online retailers have a set price of 123 Euros. ($160)
I'm with the Oud Cuir d'Arabie and Dark Aoud crowd.

Can't imagine why anyone would require the haute concentration of either - they are both monsters straight-up off the shelf.

There are plenty of places to buy them online...
I'm with Oud Cuir d'Arabie or Blue Amber.
