Also noticing hardly any dupes in these first 5 posts. We are a diverse bunch. Wonder which olfactory family is winning (again with the story problems!)

If a train is heading north and left at 5:45 pm and another train left but stopped to get gas and some Mcdonalds..caught up with the other train but turned left 15 miles from the destination..just kidding, oh I hated those math problems! Lol!

Only 3 dupes. Beige, Eau d'Hadrien and Lys Soleia from 6 lists of 10. Definitely a group with varied tastes.

Probably a group with a wider knowledge of available perfumery too so maybe a cross over of 3 is a sign of the quality of those 3?

AA Lys Soleia is just such good work it deserves to become a permanent member of the AA line and join Herba Fresca and the wonderful Pamplelune

Not very summery choices, as I don't get along well with most citrus or light scents. jujy, I'm currently battling long summer day insomnia, so I might just tally up those olfactory families, 'counting chypres.'

Yes, very interesting to hunt for trends. Lys Soleia was on my to-sniff list, as I always feel obliged to smell the AAs, but now I hold out actual hope that it's something special, unlike most of the AAs.

I have only three serious go-to's so far this summer. Like Warum, whom I miss like candy, by the way, it may take more time to make a top ten. The big three are:

CdG Jaisalmer
PdN Cologne Sologne
JM Fresh Mint Leaf (waves at 30R)
post #22 of 45
I love Jo Malone Nectarine, Blossom and Honey for day (it just makes me happy) and Bond Madison Square Park

Nice to see you Your Royal Duckness.

Well, it took me about a week to figure out what I like this summer. In May we went to Morocco to be home in early June, then it was miserably hot including the first week of July when we were moving and now it is even more miserably hot. With my entry I am going to plummet one fragrance on top of the charts (*khm khm*) and one entry goes into my To Test list -- AA Lys Soleia. OK, here goes:

1) Garner James Orange Cologne (*Ding ding ding we have a winna*) -- How well do you know your oranges? Not well enough after Orange Cologne, complex, multifaceted, wearable and enjoyable overall. Once again, please do yourselves a favor and test it, unfortunately his website was under construction last time I checked, and a cherry on top of a cake is that he is our own and a nice guy;
2) Perles de Lalique -- Morocco was covered, the roses with cedar base bloom in dry heat;
3) Gres Cabaret -- roses with ambrette bloom in humid heat, long lasting, refreshing and pretty;
4) Hermes Hiris -- a lot has been said about it, but citrus keeps it fresh and vibrant, the whole thing is tenaciously fragile;
5) FM Iris Poudre -- I like it sweet, I like it muted/pastel/watercolor, always;
6) HdP 1876 -- for sultry nights out -- as if we go anywhere anyway -- for cuddling/hugs/more;
7) Balmain de Balmain -- because I like it in general, for the fruity (pineapple-raspberry) vibe, for the long-lasting drydown, indispensable;
8) Bottega Veneta -- why not? soft and supple, quiet but with presence, took me time to understand it as it went totally introverted during the colder months of the year;
9) Violettes de Toulouse -- got a new pre-loved bottle in EdT, does not last long but it is just enough for the scorchers;
10) I leave this spot empty as I am planning to include it in the forthcoming Blind Sniff.

The discovery of the summer was: Knize Two (thanks Haunani!) and the whole Ineke Floral Curiosities line.

Hmm, I'll follow Twolf's very thoughtful post with my much less so one.

I've been a bit off of the perfume wagon lately, so I've really been reaching for some simple, easy to wear stuff that I am already very familiar with. I'll regain my enthusiasm soon, I'm sure. Maybe it's just too hot!

Chanel #5 Eau Premiere - always easy to like and wear
Ava Luxe No. 23 - I've gotten a little obsessed with it lately
SL Douce Amere - out of the blue summer choice, but I wear it to work. It's comfy and it fascinates me at the same time.
Lalique Eau de Lalique - another that is just easy and that I enjoy
Hermes Hiris - I've always loved this one, and I've worn it often lately
L'Artisan Premier Figuier Extreme - odd ball choice, but I enjoy the creaminess of it, and the woody drydown

I've pretty much stuck to a short rotation, but I do feel the urge to bust out a bit now
post #32 of 45
So far this summer...

Sa majeste la rose
Angel
Crystal Noir
L'ombre dans l'eau
Midnight Violet
Mitsouko
#19
Feminite du bois
Jicky
Shalimar

Looks like I like roses, green scents and chypres in summer....and patchouli.

Jujy, I love some of your choices.

I don't think I can come up with ten, as I haven't brought much (comparatively) with me to Florida. These are the ones that seem to be working well for me...

Chanel No. 19 Poudré
Chanel No. 5 edp
Chanel No. 22 edt (current)
EL Pleasures (hot weather staple)

The Chanels are wonderful in Florida! Their cool aloofness suits the heat, while the warmth releases their more voluptuous notes. I think Beige would be nice down here, too.

Hi lilybelle, thanks for your kind remarks. I'm not a vintage snob, at least I don't think I am, yet only 4711 and Volupté are in production, 4711 being simply ancient, and Volupté dates back to the early 90s. VOlupté's drydown has vintage-y qualities in it's depth, persistence, and complex subtlety; I sniff the crook of my elbow all the time when wearing it! Mayotte and the Santana, while discontinued, date from the aughts; the rest are old they-don't-make-them-like-they-used-to vintage.

An interesting exercise for myself would be to buy three fragrances less than 10 years old and see how long I could limit myself to them without pining for the old stuff. Is it IFRA, or is it changing tastes over the years, where I'm locked into Antilope for the same reason I turn to that radio station with Sarah Vaughan and Frank Sinatra? Probably both.

- - - Updated - - -

TWolf, I've been revisiting some of the samples you sent me, and I have to say you have a knack for the summer scents, and florals in general. They take me out of my more leathery element, and it's a pleasant contrast to my susal tastes.
post #39 of 45
Eau de Guerlain
Philtre d'Amour
Sous le Vent
Derby
Tiffany for Men
L'Heure Fougueuse

New discoveries:

Myrrhe et Delires - great unusual mix of cool pear, spicy aromatic myrrhe undercurrent, very cooling.
Interlude Man - magical, I have been wearing this since the release and still enjoying the ride.
Opus VI - serious smoky oriental accord with amber that, against all logic, just shines in serious equatorial heat and humidity.

I switched out one scent..unfortunately, BVL Omnia Coral's musky dry down really didn't hit the right notes last time I wore it, ugh. Just awful. I think I didn't give it a full wearing until this last time, before, I only sampled a bit on the wrists. Yes on the pomegranate..a big no on the musk.
post #41 of 45
Fewer than 10, but here's my top list this summer:

Hermessence Rose Ikebana
Hermessence Santal Massoia
Margiela Untitled L'eau
Chanel Chance Eau Tendre
Chanel 5 Eau Premiere
post #42 of 45
Jujy, thanks but mine are not all strictly floral. Out of the 9 listed -- and the 10th one is ambery-leather -- I have got:
1) an aromatic woody-fruity, a luxurious 26 per cent concentration sold as perfume;
2, 3, 7) chypres, some are with various degrees of fruity elements;
4) citrusy floral;
5, 9) two florals;
6) semi-oriental;
8) semi-oriental with leather.
post #43 of 45
I've been enjoying sultry, tropical florals this summer ...jasmine, in particular -

Annick Goutal's Songes
Badgley Mischka Fleurs de Nuit
Alien Sunessence and Sunessence Or d'Ambre
Guerlain Samsara
Guerlain AA Flora Nymphea
Marc Jacobs Blush
Gucci Rush
Lush Lust

a few green florals -

Balmain (Cellier) vintage Vent Vert
Estee Lauder's vintage Private Collection
Liz Claiborne LizSport
Paco Rabanne vintage Métal
Gucci Envy
and my latest acquisition, Chanel Bel Respiro

and summer orientals -

Dior Dune, as always
Hermès Eau des Merveilles
Rochas Absolu
and a big surprise addition, Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial

...as well as L'Instant and Magnolia Nobile for my regular magnolia fix, and Gucci No3, Molyneux Quartz and La Perla for my chypre moods. Oh, and Bottega Veneta, for soft, sultry leather.

That's way more than ten - sorry 'bout that kalli. I really went overboard but now I just don't have the heart to eliminate any of them.

E- Um, who's to say it can't be over 10?. Oooh, Lush Lust huh? I've just sniffed that one! A looooove. It's a hot, spicy jasmine BOMB! I love it! Glad to see another Lust fan. I've been wanting to try that Sunessence and didn't know there was a Sunessence Or D'Ambre(Amber gold? That sounds divine-must look that one up. Though I have yet to find a TM scent I like thus far), I've also been wanting to try Samsara, I am sure I will love it, Blush has been in the far back of my mind to try as well. Thanks for sharing!.
