Buying fragrance for a female friend

Okay discerning ladies (and gentlemen), need some input on what to get as a birthday present for a very good friend of mine. Usually I wouldn't get a fragrance as a present unless I knew for certain what the person liked, but she is pretty much the only other person I know who actively wears fragrance and has a few bottles. She is a BIG fan of L'eau d'Issey, having finished one bottle and started on another (plus she also adores the smell of L'eau d'Issey pour Homme, but she won't wear it because she thinks it's too masculine). Not to mention she has two bottles of L'eau d'Issey A Drop of Cloud (one is empty). She has a finished bottle of L de Lolita Lempicka, and when I asked her about it, she said she needed to buy another bottle of that (hint?). She also has half finished bottles of Miss Dior Cherie and Chanel Coco Mademoiselle.

I was thinking of getting her a set of Lolita Lempicka mini's (Lolita Lempicka, Si Lolita, Coral Flower) so she can explore more scents and perhaps find one she likes, as opposed to buying a full bottle of something I enjoy but she dislikes (a bottle of Armani Code Woman she got as a gift lies untouched..). However, at the same time, I want to introduce her to some niche fragrances. Any suggestions for what I could start smelling?

I could always just get her another bottle of L de Lolita, but that would be boring and predictable.

Hi Broxwood!
Personally I would replenish her bottle of L de Lolita Lempicka or
the set of minis. If I really liked a certain scent I would welcome another bottle
of it. Which scent do you like on her? Maybe you should go with that
one!
As for niche scents I would recommend Douce Amere by Serge Lutens. It has the same
anise/licorice note as the original lolita Lempicka and is a gorgeous perfume in my opinion.
You could also consider Musc Ravageur by Editions de Parfums Frederick Malle (Les Senteurs would stock it.)

Good call. Get her DA and, at least, she will end up discovering a new brand.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check out Douce Amere. Unfortunately, I fall into the very small minority who seem to dislike Musc Ravageur. Can't get past the sweaty eastern spice shop vibe.

BTW, I'm not a guy. Just realised my post might have read like a guy trying to woo a lady with some fumes.

The minis are a nice idea. Try also Chanel No19.
