MDCI Un Coeur en Mai reformulation

I received an email today from Luckyscent that linked to a "newly reformulated" MDCI Un Coeur en Mai. Has anyone else heard about this or had a chance to try it?

Luckyscent describes the reformulation as a way to increase the concentration and improve the scent. If this is true (not just marketing), then I applaud MDCI.

Also, I consider it a plus that the original perfumer, Patricia de Nicolai, was in charge of the reformulation.

Here's the copy from Luckyscent:

The Scoop
Newly reformulated
Kudos to Parfums MDCI for transparency on reformulations! When the brand decided to up the concentration of Un Coeur en Mai, the original formula risked running afoul of ever-stricter regulations. Undaunted, Patricia de Nicolaï stepped back into the lab and came out with an even more beautiful, tender and well-balanced version. Skimming off a smidge of pink pepper and clove, shes made her hyacinth and lily of the valley accord even truer to the tenderness of its name, a heart in May. Built on a fresh heart of rose and geranium enhanced with different tones of green bright floral petitgrain, raspy blackcurrant and resinous galbanum it unfurls like a delicate sprig of muguet under a springtime sun in a haze of fluffy musk. As an added bonus, this subtle tweak has allowed a stronger concentration and improved the lasting power: more to love for anyone whos fallen in love with this radiant tribute to spring, composed by a true master of perfumery.

Un Coeur en Mai Notes
Hyacinth, lily of the valley, petitgrain, bergamot, Bulgarian rose, galbanum, black currant, melon, Moroccan mimosa, Bourbon geranium, black pepper, coriander, musk, precious woods

I ordered their sample pack and Im looking forward to trying it. I didnt like the original version - something too strident and some note in there I just didnt like. They seem to have put more 'floral' in it and cut down on the spice. I have a feeling I might like this better.

And I agree - kudos to them for being so up front about marketing this. We deserve to know what we're getting when we buy something.

I wonder how they decided to reformulate Un Coeur en Mai. Did they listen to customer feedback?

I am sending off for a sample. I could do with less of the mimosa and melon. I found the first one close, but in the end, too screechy. Fingers crossed.

Well, good news to report. This new formula is a huge improvement. The toning down was just what I had required; as above. No more screeching white musk. Yeah! Maybe full-bottle worthy.

It is good news indeed. Must try a sample though!

I ordered the LS sampler pack, and this fragrance was one of the reasons I jumped on ordering it right away (they sell out of these sample packs, as I learned in the past). I haven't tried the earlier version, but I think that this one is simply gorgeous. I agree with kumquat - the full bottle may be worth the $plurge!

I tell you, I tried this on again the other day. It is really pretty and green in a cheerful way but not too over-whelming as the old formula was. I may just pull the trigger on this one!

Is this different enough to have both?

I have a 10ml size of the original and I don't think I will use it up if I get the new version.

I'm liking this new stuff quite a lot. It has a dominant hyacinth top-note followed closely by lily-of -the-valley and the galbanum, etc, pretty much as stated in the ingredient list. But I love the hyacinth note-cold and clear in the opening and throughout. So wear this if you want to be reminded of Spring and smell like a hyacinth.
