No Love for Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum?

Well it's oud free, not marketed as niche and doesn't have a Thierry Mugler "Pure" tag on it. But it's still the best release of 2012 imho. Created by Francois Demachy who has become one of my favourite perfumers recently and totally different from the original one. So i don't consider Eau Sauvage Parfum as a flanker. It's totally unique and amazing!!!

Anyone agree?

Yes, it stands on its own. I enjoy wearing it very much. A pleasant surprise for me.

Actually, I see quite a bit of love for it here....certainly hasn't been shrugged off by any stretch. I like it as well, and it's on the "buy" list.

A very well done fragrance indeed but, somehow, I haven't felt like pulling the trigger on a full bottle yet...
I just wish I could get the opportunity to try it out..... doesn't seem to have arrived here in the UK yet......!!

I think it's fantastic, very dark and brooding. But it's more suited to Autumn/Winter (despite our damp 'summer').

I didn't like it at all, sorry.

I think there's quite a bit of love for it here. It pops up a lot in best of and favorites lists.
As people have said, quite the opposite; I've seen plenty of love for it.

Thank God. I'm looking forward to try it soon. This thread is a nice reminder.

I wonder wether it will be available for longer than the now mythical FraƮcheur Cuir!? Anyone remembers why this was gone so soon?

I dig it and I'm not a particularly big fan of vetiver. I haven't seen a ton of posts about it but the ones I do see seem to be mostly favorable. I'd consider buying a bottle, but at the moment I have my sights on other frags.
I'm in the "No Love" minority on this one.
Recently purchased it and I love it.

Well done fragrance, that's for sure. Demachy has done wonderful work lately, I agree with the OP, he's climbing my list of favorite perfumers.

The parfum isn't really my style, I prefer the EDT - but it's very well done

It's very nice. I don't understand comments saying there is no resemblance to the original. I can smell the Sauvage "bones" clearly, they are very much related until you get to the drydown.
It's pretty good, but I'm not in love with it.
There's plenty of love for it when it's mentioned. I think it hasn't gotten all thaT much attention because it's not experimental or particularly new in character -- it's a rather simple composition about great balance and high quality. Imo that was a good approach for Dior to take on this frag: I believe it will have legs.

Great frag, one I really enjoy. Cant find it in the fragrance directory though.

I have a bottle and I enjoy it very much. After a few wearings I can tell you that the original Eau Sauvage vibe does last very far into the drydown-- it just seems to vanish and reappear intermittently. The thing is this, a lot of people are experiencing an extended heat wave and are moving toward lighter fresher scents for the time being. Once the weather turns cool, I know I'll be wearing Eau Sauvage Parfum quite a bit.

Quality scent. Looking forward to it casting its spell in the Autumn months.

There are some nice things going on with this new version, but it's killed with that weird ass apricot note that just makes it suck overall in the end.

Great fragrance, lots of love. They could have called it "Vetyver Myrrh" and released it as one of the Privee line.
I bought this blind on the strength of the original Eau Sauvage. When I first sprayed it on I was a bit disappointed. It seemed "normal" and a bit simplistic. On second wearing I experienced more details and realized it was a straightforward but subtle composition. By the third time I knew I was happy, and I think Dior should be happy too.

Actually i mean this one is not as popular as the ones in the Privee Line on the board. Howerver it's as good as those ones in the Prive Line imo.

Most of the bottles in my collection are also niche fragrances but sometimes we miss the point and fall into a myopia if the fragrance is not limited (TM Line), not re-formulated(Dior Homme, Homme Intense, Fahrenheit) or not an old classic(Egoiste)...

It does nothing to improve upon the original and if anything the character seems a little contorted. Something just ain't right for me; it smelled somehow stale. I guess that's the risk when you're being compared against one of the classics of perfumery.

I don't think one has to compare the Classic to the New to realize that stale apricot doesn't work with this new one.

I almost love it every time I wear my sample, but after the lovely top and even more lovely drydown, the 2 hours and beyond range just loses the greatness. In short, it's boring, I guess. It does the same, mildly interesting thing for a very long time and then just disappears.

It's a shame, because I love the opening so much.
I didn't like it.
I've worn it twice now and like it though I will have to wear it a few more times yet to really get to know it. The opening projects 'class' but I'm undecided about the drydown. I'm neutral at the moment but will report back.

My sentiments exactly, after two wearings.
