John Varvatos Artisan / Artisan Black - any difference at all?

I have Artisan and I think it is a great scent. I have read that the Black version should be a stronger and longer lasting version of the same scent but is it? Have tried it on several occations but it vanishes very fast from my skin - especially compared to the "normal" Artisan.

Your thoughts?

I think Artisan is more summery than Black - and that Black is a bit more like the original Varvatos. And since the original wasn't exactly a powerhouse, what you're smelling makes sense to me.

I've waffled on Black. I liked it - almost better than regular Artisan - but not enough for the buy.

Artisan smells like my Neutrogena face wash.

Artisan Black has a hint of leather but its very subtle to my nose...On the first application both look similar but they aren't...have both and I find Black a bit better than the original..

black is better than the original to me, but to obtain duration and sillage you will have to spray yourself with one fifth of the bottle.
Longer duration and better sillage would have made it a masterpiece!
