"Original" fragrances for going to the Club/Bar?

Does anyone have any suggestions? I keep reading about 1 Million, La Nuit, Le Male etc., but I feel like everyone wears those. I want something that has good longetivity and projects pretty well. I am 23 by the way. Sorry if there are a lot of threads like this, but I keep reading about all of the "regular" scents everyone and their brother wears and want to be different. Thanks!

BTW, cannot afford Creed, so please do not recommend it (cough cough Aventus)

If you are looking for something unique and you already have a fragrance you like that projects well, mix it with something else you already have in your collection. I mix my Tom Ford Private Blends all the time. And, I mix them with my mainstream fragrances too. You never know what you will come up with but the possibilities are endless.

Whenever one thinks of a club or a bar, one quickly imagines lots of people, many different smells, maybe smoke and a lot of other variables that would make most mainstream fragrances just blend in and not exactly stand out. Thats why many fragrances that have good projection and longetivity such as the ones you mentioned get recommended alot. However, i do agree that many people wear those so its quite difficult to stand out with them. Fragrances with great projection and longetivity is what you should go with. A few suggestions for fragrances you will most likely not find others wearing, and have the projection and longetivity to be a good clubbing scents would be fragrances like Dior Homme Intense, Creed Aventus and Original Santal, Musc Ravageur, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. Other good fragrances that stand out while on the more affordable side are Mont Blanc Individuel, Eau De Baux, 24 Gold, Spicebomb.

I think that the Aramis line makes wonderful things that are not too expensive (they go about $55 for 100ml). Tuscany uomo would probably be my suggestion, it's somewhat herbal, rich, relaxed, and it doesn't smell like the current sweet masculines you're talking about. Alternatively, Aramis 900 is resiny, patchouli, warmer. For something warmer, smoother, and very elegant, you can check Chanel Egoiste (the regular Egoiste, not the platinum egoiste). Unfortunately, it is not sold at Macy's or the like, just bloomingdales or similar, and it is a little more expensive, around $80 for 100ml.

Boss Bottled, it's inexpensive and I've never noticed anyone else wearing it while out (despite it's popularity here.) I've received too many compliments to count while wearing it by women. It has great longevity and projection without over-spraying, which is what you want while in the club.

Reasonably popular, yet not generic: Burberry London for Men, YSL La Nuit EDP, Baldessarini Ambree by Hugo Boss.

On the riskier, but more adventurous side: something like Zino Davidoff, Dsquared Potion or Fahrenheit Absolue.

Zino, Bogart pour Homme.

Musc Ravenger is a great niche fragrance for the clubs, its expensive but not as pricey as the Creeds.

Mugler - Pure Havane I could see working really well (though I really don't club ... at all .. well, maybe baby seals but that's it).

I'm also tempted to recommend Bleu De Chanel, even though plenty of people here don't like it. I find it subtle, but still projecting and - as I've stated in other threads - girls seem to just engulf when they smell it. It's a chick magnet.

Burberry London could also work. Great and boozy fragrance with woods and christmas all thrown into the mix.

A*men. I don't really think it's worn much these days, and you can't go wrong with a classic!
Ambre Sultan. It projects well and has excellent longevity. You will still smell it on you when you wake up the next day.

Bulgari Black; rubber, smoke and vanilla, leaves a great trail

Bang by Marc Jacobs; very, very peppery at the start, but give it 30 minutes to calm down and the pepper starts mixing with sweet wooods.

Scent Intense by Costume National: Hibiscus, black tea, amber and jasmine; sophistication in a bottle

Perhaps Burberry London
Egoiste.
Michael Kors for Men. The boozy, masculine smell would be perfect for a night out on the town.
Sycomore by Chanel is my favorite clubbing scent.
Club + Original = Comme Des Garcons. Try Play (the original, not the new trio), CDG2Man or Sequoia.

Fleur de Male
L'Instant Extreme
Black Orchid
Sweet Oriental Dream (a Montale that can be bought cheap when they reopen their boutique)

Only you can decide if those are good choices. Do you like how they smell on your skin? If so, they're good choices! That's why you have to really try out a frag before buying it. There's nothing worse than buying a scent that is great in the bottle but a wreck on your skin.

Two excellent and unique suggestions there! EdB is $50 for 100ml and BMI can be had for even less.

I see some suggestions for Pure Havane. I agree with that. Others would be:
Pure Malt
Egoiste
CdG Avignon
PR Black XS
APHS
F by Ferragomo Black
I have not been to the clubs in like forever but if I were asked to go in the near future I would probably wear PR Black XS or Givenchy Play Intense.

IMO no, but if you like them then who really cares :P

Haha, I returned Spicebomb today (Just not cost effective at this point), and ended up getting Givenchy Play Intense and Platinum Egoiste for $20 more total. Very happy with my decision.
A*Men
Ferragamo Black, Xeryus Rouge and Paco Rabanne Black XS l'exces (imo better than the original one)

That's all that matters in the end. But do tell us how it went at the club/bar, lol.

I second the suggestion for Boss Bottle. It is relatively inexpesive, has a great scent with very good silage and longevity.
Not sure about spicebomb (never tried it). La Nuit isn't much of a "clubbing scent" but it is versatile enough to wear at the clubs. I see it more as a night out scent. Probably good for the bars as well.
If there is anything I learned about fragrances, it's that they do not fall under exclusive categories. If you like it and know it will work, just wear it.

Great choices, regardless.
I would also place A*Men up there with the other clubbing scents. Not sure why, but I can't see Pure Malt as a clubbing fragrance. A*Men just screams "Look at me!"

Not a fan of the Platinum, but Givenchy Play Intense is a very good fragrance! Like what Diamondflame said, what matters is that you're happy with your decision.

Enjoy your three choices!

Givenchy Play Intense is a delectable treat.

Agreed! Musc Ravageur is very sexy. Oud Wood would be good too.

BTW, you can probably find splits for these pretty easily, or even an Aventus split for 50ml around $70-$80 if you like it ...

Thanks guys. Actually I leave for NYC tomorrow, so I will let you know how it goes after that (I go every year to party with my cousins ha).

In all seriousness though, I love the Givenchy Play Intense. I was glad I picked that up. And a few days ago I actually decided to take the Chanel back. It was nice, but was nothing to "wow" about. I took the extra money I had from the Spicebomb/Chanel returns and now have some Aventus/GIT splits on the way! Tested both at Saks 5th, and fell in love with both. The dry down on the Aventus is incredible.

I wearing these

Linstant Extreme
Dior Homme Intense
Dior Homme
Black Orchid
Back to Black by Kilian
A*men Pure Havane
A*men Taste of Fragrance
Orginal A*Men is one of the few imo that will outproject most of the club scents worn. PH and PM just don't project like this beast though (though I love PM). Drydown is probably one of the most unique scents out there and smells heavenly. A lot of people dislike the opening though, and thus you should definitely try it on your skin first.

It's also fairly cheap.
I'd say Santos by Cartier and One Man Show by Bogart.
Definitely check out the Creed Boutique in NY. Although, I've noticed they give out more samples at Bergdorf Goodman. They are very close so check both of them out! The Frederic Malle boutique is also close.
