the opening reminded me so of profumo.it Don Corleone, its that same smoked ham scent, but here it lasts for ever, its quite linear after 30 minutes....its very nicely balanced, it feels like...
It's a long time since I owned Yardley's English Rose, I thought of it when Sa Majeste began to settle on my skin. Linear? Yes. A large bunch of Jean Ducher or Duchesse de Brabant to my nose and...
This scent sounds rather fearsome:
An animale in heat!
Methinks the beast is tamer,
As I find it rather sweet.
But since I'm fairly thrifty,

currently listening: Vertigo Mixed presented by Andy Votel
The album is broken up into parts, but the whole thing is available on youtube. I repurposed this blurb from an amazon review: Whether it's chunks of proto metal, glam, heavy jazz, funk (but really lots o' proto metal) or whatever other odd detours this mix presents, they all have an element of swaggering bombast. Moreover, it all flows like a wild party, and there's something in the punch. It can get a little weird, at times, but never monotonous as there's something fresh around each corner and they come fast and furious. Welcome to the funhouse.
I'm amazed at the diversity of moods Messiaen conjures in a little over three minutes. I love this period of his work - rhythmically rich, harmonically dense, but he hadn't lost clarity of line that gets smudged in his more grandiose mid-century works.

Love me a bit of Messiaen. One of the best reasons for attending church! :-) jk
