Dior Leather Oud or Dior Oud Ispahan

I am going to be placing an order this week, which one do you guys recommend to buy first??

If you prefer a smoky leathery dark sweet musky scent go for leather oud, I have it and its good. Though if you prefer the Rose and Oud combo then Ispahan would be the better scent.

Try them both before placing an order?

I could see Leather Oud being surprisingly non-wearable if you don't expect what's coming. It's not exactly an easy fragrance, very dirty, you'll smell like an animal. Pungent would be an applicable word.

But, I also don't find Oud Ispahan worth a purchase. It's just been so done to death, that I can't look past the redundancy.

I do understand the difficulty in trying the Dior Privee line, they don't exactly make it easy to test, but I'd check for a sample from somewhere.

Leather Oud but get ready to be surprised.

Both are excellent. Both are different.

LO is a skanky oud wood and smoky leather. OI is a lush rose and oud accord.

+1

I was surprised at first but now it's one of my favorite Oud scents.

Ispahan is easy to wear, Leather Oud not but both smells extremely good.

OI has monstrous longevity and can get overwhelming, it's typically a 1-spray kind of scent. Dior is quite generous with samples when you buy a full bottle of exclusive, I would personally go for LO and ask for a large sample of OI. But then again LO *is* dirty and less versatile than OI.

Thanks for the suggestions, is it better to place an order online or through their Vegas store??? I am asking because it says the only sample that would be given is J'adore Dior lol.

SAMPLE FIRST. Both are very good, but also very, very, very off-putting scents to some, and can be hard to handle. Both are also extraordinarily strong. Cannot emphasize enough, do not blind buy these.

They can do better. Don't buy there.

It have ricidulous longevity indeed but the projection is not monstruous, 1 spray is not enough for me, i use about 4 or 5, so it projects the way I like (strong)
Unless the retail bottle have a different sprayer (mine is from a decant, with a normal sprayer)

I definitely think Leather Oud is the more special fragrance. Check out Montale Aoud Cuir d'Arabie and Le Labo Oud 27 before you buy it though.

Dior Private sprayers are MONSTROUS. They spray more than Creed/Chanel.

Where's the best place then? They're not sold at the Boston boutique and online is the only place they're available. I've wanted to sample more of these for a while.

Ledda od

I would recommend sampling first, too. I wouldn't say these are safe blind buys at all.

If you like Le Labo Patchouli 24, you will probably like Leather Oud. Both are dry smoky leathers.

Call the Vegas store and ask for Massiel. Get whichever one you want and you will get a mini of 1 other scent. The Oud Ispahan mini is 7.5ml which will actually last a while. She will make you samples of all the others in the Collection also if you ask nicely. Tell her Jonathan referred you please .

Leather Oud is well worth owning, Oud Ispahan no (at least to me).

Leather Oud is a pretty unique and captivating fragrance. I don't find Oud Ispahan as interesting - on my skin, it is little rose and mostly smoky oud chips (like in Leather Oud) plus patchouli.

For a rose oud combo, I find OI very dry, dark and smoky. Personally, I much prefer other rose oud scents such as New York Oud, Kilian Rose Oud, and Tom Ford Noir de Noir. For something with a similar feel (dry, smoky complex rose), I much prefer Portrait of a Lady.

I'll buy Leather Oud in my next trip to Paris.
Do you recommend go to the Maison Dior or the La Fayette galleries?
Thank you!
