Sikh Temple mass shooting in Wisconsin

I don't know why I'm posting except to say I am ashamed anyone from my state would act this way.
Tactical situation is ongoing, although it sounds like the shooter was downed by police.
Four dead, more injured.
I'm not a gun-control proponent, but I have to wonder what can be done to head off such insanity.

Quarry, there are no state, province, country lines where this cannot happen it seems, I do know what you mean though. My thoughts are with everyone there. I don't know what can be done either, and my words seem pitifully inadequate...

Very sad, such meaningless slaughter.

Terrible.
My thoughts...

A sad situation indeed. There are many very sick individuals in society.

You don't have to be provincial, and look merely at local happenings.
Look at the world stage, and see the atrocities that are being tolerated and/or allowed to happen daily.

What is going on in this country? The whole world is going through an economic recession but why is it in the U.S.A. that these mass shootings are becoming routine. My heart goes out to those families in Wisconsin. God be with you.

During the non-stop coverage yesterday when local tv stations were seeking a way to fill air time while awaiting each detail as events unfolded, some spokespeople for the area's religious communities with India roots said one of the positives we might extract from this tragedy (seven dead, some injured, and hundreds emotionally scarred) is that we who knew little or nothing about Sikhism might become better versed on this spiritual order.

I have made an effort and will continue to gain an understanding.

Another thing worth reporting is how extremely well the police and special tactical forces, including the FBI, dealt with the situation. That is a great comfort. They are to be commended.

We need a REAL education for the younger generation and at the apex of the pyramid , just one word: RESPECT

An awful thing to happen . My thoughts are with those innocent victims and their families and all those who are scared and shaken right now.

awful, just awful.

So sad for the families of the victims, and for all the many good people whose hearts and minds such senselessness hurts.

Our country needs to find a way, as a culture of people--as a large community, still with the ability to enact change, to instill self-respect and respect for others as a basic part of existence. Then we could be trusted with guns (but then who would need 'em?).

I cannot even begin to comprehend the mindset of an individual behind such a senseless and tragic event. Thoughts are with those affected in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin is supposed to be one of the best states in the country as far as violence I think. Pretty non-violent, yes? Prayers to all who have been affected.
A senseless act.
What would possess a person to do such a thing? I am just heartsick over this. Thinking of all who were affected.

In addition to suggesting an expanded education in Sikhism, may I recommend a neat little film we watched in the past year. It's a comedy wherein the star just happens to be a Sikh named Harpreet Singh Bedi, or “Rocket Singh.”

[For Sikhs, Singh (lion) is a second name adopted by men and Kaur (princess) by women.]

I remember when Bill Cosby co-starred with Robert Culp in TV’s “I Spy.” As a youth, it never registered with me that Cosby was black. One of positive influences of TV shows and movies is to dissolve “other-ism.”
