hey guys

compared to the lot of you all im rather new to this new found passion which i have since a year anhd am absolutely loving it

I've collected quite a few bottles, about 25, and they have cost me quite a fortune

The thing is i have decided to limit my passion before it becomes and obsession(im really toing the line).

I have a desirable list like most of you'll and have being saving up and buying from it, Some box pieces and some tester's.

Now my list still has quite a few, and i have decided to just buy a few more, earlier on i was planning to get a Creed, but then i decided, it makes no sense, because if i wear a 200$ frag or a 20$ frag, to the crowd i either smell good or bad, i don't smell of 200$ or 20.

so ive now decide to rather go for two or three designers since i dont really care for the niche hype, though i wanna get one, but thats when i start earning, not from saving up on pocket money ! P.s- im 19.

okay, so im gonna give u my desirable list, and i want you guys to suggest the top five for me, it would be soo awesome if i get the opinion's from such experienced people like you'll

This is the list, please guys feel free to add ur suggestions and do let me know your choices
If possible i want perfumes with good projection and longevity.
I basically go to college, tuitions, weekly night outs, formal occasions.
i do appreciate formal scents and love my dad's collection, but i want a mix of both formal and informal scents.
The problem is im from India, and the perfume market ain't much up here, we have a lot of choices, but they are insanely priced. To get a bottle of 3.4oz Chanel i have to pay close to a 100$ and i dont really shop much online as with the shipping it works out to the same price i pay here.

1°- L'instant De Guerlain Extreme- excellent smell, lasting power and sillage.

2°- Dior Homme Intense- good lasting power and sillage.

3°- Body Kouros- average lasting power and sillage.

4°- Bvlgari Extreme- good smell, awful sillage and lasting power.

5°- Diesel Fuel For Life- good smell, average lasting power, low sillage.

6°- Guerlain Pour Homme- awful LP and S.

7°- Versace Dreamer- excellent lasting power and sillage.

8°- Kouros- sillage and lasting power monster.

Hey thanks !
I have the orignal a*men metal flask, its refillable I think and its a beast !
I feel the constant need to keep sniffing it
I'm eagerly awaiting their new frag which is leather based I think, the only leather based frag I have is diesel's for the brave which is quite dent but my skin eats it up quite fast !

And I'm assuming egoiste is a special occasion frag ?
Like A Formal event or something ?
I don't like to involve myself in that school of thought that every frag has an occasion and a kinda clothing that goes with it, but sometimes I wonder am I thinking right ?
Cuz I think its your attitude that counts, the way u pull off a frag is more important than the 'occasion' its associated with !

First of all.

If I had 19 again I'd pass on Egoiste, Kouros, Platinum Egoiste and maybe also on L Instant Exxtreme and other 2 Guerlains.

Then I really dislike Xeryus Rouge (cheap sweet feminine scent to my nose).
I have not smelled Fierce, Fuel For Life and Bulgari Extreme.

That leaves just Dreamer, Boss no.6, Body Kouros and Dior Homme Intense in game which I prefer in this order:

1. Dior Homme Intense
2. Body Kouros
3. Boss no.6
4. Dreamer

Body Kouros is love or hate fragrance so I definitely would not buy it blind.
Dreamer smells also kinda weird and synthetic but it is nice.
Boss no.6 is versatile and safest choice of bunch.
DHI - I love DHI but can see how some may dislike it.


If I could pick just 5 of them to have in MY (30yo) wardrobe it would be:

1. Dior Homme Intense
2. L'Instant Exxtreme
3. Kouros (just because its so unique)
4. none (maybe Egoiste)
5. none (maybe Body Kouros or Boss no.6)

I'd pass on rest because I dont find them to be "must own" fragrances.

You make a point about not having the guerlains and chanel because of the age factor, and part of why their on my list is because of the need to stand out from comming across as a boy and comming thru as a man

LIDGE is currently on top of my list closely followed by the dreamer and Kouros.
I've sampled the DHI(Silver Collar) and why I'm not to keen on getting it even though I love it, is maybe I feel the reformulatiom ain't worth the hype :|

Another vote for Egoiste, though I like Dior Homme too. And either can be worn for any occasion - in my sort of humble opinion.

Lidge is nice, very nice but I find DHI richer and find myself reaching for it 2 out of 3 times.

Are u really 19? Anyways...just take out the A&F Fierce, Boss Bottled, Dreamer & Keep the rest. A good collection u've got there. The Guerlain L'instant homme...not really for ur age IMHO. But keep it, very good frag.

@HowardUK : i have the dior homme sport and that ginger just makes me a fan
keen to try out the rest !
the thing with DHI is that where im situated, i have the reformulated version listed for about 120$, and i dont know wether to pick it over the orignal9silver collar !
The LIDGE on the other hand is for about 88 $

i do get what ur trying to say, take out the safe one's(it makes sense, i have a lotta them, check my wardrobe) and pull something off that makes you stand out, there's a lotta love for DHI and Egoiste on this post, and i think ithose are respectable choices.
The reason i choose LIDGE is that im getting some value for money, atleast that's what i think, 88$ ain't bad right ?

Platinum Egoiste (not my style but it will work for you and your age group, that metallic freshness sells well).
Fuel for Life / Xeryus Rouge (kinda fruity sillage monsters, I don't like them that much but both work well).

Wow big difference. Here they are roughly the same price.

DHI is far more "intense" than LIDGE. While I look forward to wearing L'instant (wearing it today) if I'm going out for the night I am much more likely to reach for DHI. I can smell LIDGE many hours after applying it but feel, on me, that it doesn't project that well whereas DHI surrounds me in a big buttery bubble which wafts pleasurably up my nose for hours on end. I also find LIDGE to be the more feminine of the two.

I have the reformulated DHI.

The opposite for me, i feel L'Instant Extreme sillage to be much more noticeable than DHI's, whice feels more like a skin scent.

I'll do myself and you'll favour, go to the mall, take a spray of LIDGE and DHI on both arms and decide, as it's the most subjective frag that i've come across in the community

Yeah it is why reviews should be used as a guide only. Find what interests you then test it for yourself.

Damn right Guerlain is the best ever. Notes never go off. It lasts for decades, and yeah.... It's a niche frag. Enjoy it.
