Rank the Thierry Mugler fragrances

I made this thread a couple years back. Now there are changed opinions and new fragrances!

Rank your favorite Mugler fragrances, 1 being your favorite, all the way down to your least favorite!

*Please note, I dont only mean A*Men and its flankers. Put Mugler Cologne in there if you'd like as well!

Also, particularly, I am looking to either purchase Pure Havane or Taste of Fragrance soon. I hope some of you can give me some insight on them against each other.

Pure Malt - Love the berry and whiskey combo with the A*men dry down.
A*men - Opening still bothers me and it's not the most versatile, but it was the original and the dry down is still one of the best.
Pure Havane - Enjoy the cherry tobacco/vanilla combo. A little weak and doesn't have the dry down of A*men, but it's good.
A*men Taste of Fragrance - Smells like a better version of the Pure Coffee note. Add in the Chili and it enhances the sweetness.
Mugler's Cologne - Great everyday fragrance that is clean as a whistle.
B*Men - Reminds me of sweet tarts. Kind of odd, but not bad.
Ice men - Way too weak and watered down.
Pure Coffee - Yuck!
Pure Shit - Yep!

FOR ME, first to last:

Mugler Cologne (just awesome)
A*Men (that tar note makes it great, though I can't wear it as much as the next two)
Pure Malt (delicious)

Pure Shot (underrated... a really easy-to-wear hot weather frag)

Pure Havane (good, but not one I'd wear much)



A Taste of Fragrance (an upsetting candied smell that I couldn't ever get past)
Pure Coffee (just didn't work for me)

Have or tried most of the men's line except Pure Coffee and Pure Leather, and don't really care for any of them. The only bottle I kept was Mugler Cologne, and that's just for work.

Pure Havane is more versatile, but I like the smell of TOF more. If you want a signature scent, go with PH, but if you're a collector, TOF is the better choice. IMO, you can't go wrong either way.

I own full bottle of ToF, Pure Malt, decant of A*Men, sample of Pure Havane and tried Pure Shot once.

Taste of Fragrance: most versatile and masculine (*****) > A*Men: most complex (*****) > Pure Malt: best for party (*****) >>>>> Pure Havane: nice but too feminine for my taste (****) >> Pure Shot: shitty top notes but decent drydown which reminds me Terre d'Hermes without BO note (***)


Taste of Fragrance vs Pure Havane?

Pure Havane = cherry + honey top, vanilla + saffron drydown. Longevity like 8 hours. Not bad but I prefer other vanilla based fragrances (DHI, Pi, Hypnotic Poison)

ToF = Pure Havane without honey + red pepper on top, sweet woody spicy drydown. Longevity like 12-16 hours. I STRONGLY prefer it over Pure Havane.

Too early for me to rank Pure Leather in the list, but let's just say this - it'd rank very high if I was including it today.

With that said, I'm a little bit against the grain regarding the others - I much prefer A*Men and Taste of Fragrance over Havane and Malt. I'll have to take a little time to make a master list though, I wanna give PL quite a few more spins, I'm only on my 6th wear!

I almost whole heartily agree with you! For me, TOF lasts longer than Amen original;and, TOF smells great on clothes or my wooden desk, ha ha. Pure Malt is my favorite of the group, too. Pure Havane is decent but a cherry vanilla bomb. Pure S#!& is an awful release from this house. So sad. I don't get a "BO note" from Terre though; just oranges and woods...for like 18 hrs!

Mugler Cologne is by far the best. Easy signature scent and can be worn anytime, and anywhere.

I love A*Men, PH and PM as well. They are all equally gratifying to me in different ways, yet they are limited in where they can be worn and when they can be warn....i.e. on the beach in 93 degree weather.

Pure Havane by MILES. Its probably the only one of of the Amen line that I love. Looking to get a backup bottle soon. Haven't smelled Pure Leather as of yet.

In a far behind second is Pure Malt, Then Pure coffee, Followed closely by the original Amen, Then ToF (yuck) And then that minty water called Pure Shit sorry Shot.

Man. This changes frequently. I haven't tried BMen or Icemen since they came out. Never tried sunessence.
