Dear Friends,
I've sampled and love those listed in the poll; which one do you think is full bottle worthy?
amongst those tested, i detest Timbuktu,Voleur de Roses and Patchouli Patch;just too sweet! cloying and something about these that puts me off.

This list is intentionally short - simply because the local store here is pathetic and they only have a handful!

I am not a fan of the L'Artisan house in general, but Coeur de Vetiver Sacre is an outstanding fragrance and one of my favorites regardless of house.

Neither am i - the base flavour on all fragrances seem to have something in common with terre d'hermes - but dzhonka is a different animal! but then again; the drydown is seriously putting me off - but just love the opening!

I really don't understand how Voleur, Timbuktu and PP are sweet and cloying? I find Voleur bitter and metallic - but gorgeous.
I voted Dzongkha, one of the best in the house...

Well, believe me in Malaysian humidity, most things which are stars in the west fail miserably, a month ago i wore Voleur de Roses as a evening fragrance on my birthday, and i can tell you - it wasnt a good birthday; i felt so nauseated and the "volley of roses" basically netted my night early, i found it very nauseating and it truly turned by stomach - i am not implying here that these are bad fragrances; its just that i couldnt stand em! - Timbuktu though how i wished it was a little woodier after wonderful opening; it truly reminded me of my voyages in Mali only to remind me of Terre D'Hermes later, which was a big turn-off, so i had to let that go.

My best of l'Artisan Parfumeur are Timbuktu, Patchouli Patch, Dzing, Thé pour un Été and Traversée du Bosphore, but since they are not on your shortlist I'd go for Dzongkha!

Havana Vanille: Its ok - I found it a bit too sickly vanilla


Fou D'Absinth: very nice if you can handle the austere characteristic


Dzonkha: a staple in my wardrobe - so complex - so good


Coeur de Vetiver Sacre: very nice - don't know why I don't own it yet. I guess because when I want vetiver, I want more than CdVS has to offer.

Fou d'Absinthe by L'Artisan Parfumeur - One is initially treated to a bittersweet blast from the stimulating melange of greenness spurred by ansinthe, with its dusty, dry, medicinal dimensions; angelica, with its heavy, sweet, musky attributes; star anise, with its smoky, rich, licorice character and black currant, with its strong, fruity bouquet tinged with a cat urine slant. Percolating with a faint backdrop of a coniferous forest, this somewhat brisk blend meanders to the inviting heart. Here, woody clove, spicy-sweet ginger, cinnamon-like nutmeg and a hint of lively pepper shower the green opening, and impart their warmth, while resourceful patchouli adds a warm earthiness with its slight nutty and musky overtures. The foresty background is still here, and carries this flavorful concoction to the awaiting base. Robust conifers take center stage with the fresh and slightly camphorous woodiness of pine needles and the balsamic, christmas tree aroma of firs. Cistus bestows its terpenic and pine-like facets and vague illusions of amber and leather. A faintly rugged and quintessentially outdoorsy drydown ensues. This all-season, masculine composition has good projection, a 12-inch, scent cloud, and very good longevity, 10 hours; and should be experienced, especially on cool evenings.
