Body Kouros = The Dreamer???

I know, I know. . .I'm messing with two BN'er legends here. Mea culpa.

I own The Dreamer and recently sampled BK. When I sniffed the BK on my skin, all I could think of was The Dreamer.

Is my nose not working correctly? Do I have some sore of rare genetic malformation?

HELP!

Shouldn't be similar
Bk= eucalyptus and vanilla
Dreamer= hmmmm, not eucalyptus and vanilla

Sounds like you are getting a lot of musky sweetness. Are you able to distinguish between vanilla and tonka/coumarin? And have you worn a lot of sweet frags? If no to both, then it makes sense. Your "nose" needs time to "develop." Doing lots of sampling can speed the process along.

I also do not smell any similarities between the 2.

I'm trying to get rid of my bottle of BK because I just can't stand it anymore.

I don't think they smell anything alike. I like The Dreamer, but don't care for Body Kouros.

well they both have vanilla in them.

but the dreamer has tobacco, lilies and tonka bean.
body kouros has eucalyptus and licorice.

I own them both, and they are worlds apart. I think BK can be comparable to Lolita Lempicka though, except LL is clearly gourmand, while BK is clearly oriental. The Dreamer is hard to categorize.. maybe floriental (oriental/floral). I have tried A LOT of designer fragrances, and NOTHING comes close to The Dreamer.

Do you mean the top notes or is this based on a full wearing? Either way, though we all have more or less the same sort of tool for detecting smells our hardware and software, as it were, which we read and react to them with is often worlds apart. Now throw skin into the mix. With variables this extreme almost anything is possible.

Lump me in with *everyone else* in that I'm not sure how you arrived at this conclusion. On paper, they're drastically different, and in practice, they have very different vibes. They're both semi-sweet, but that's about it. BK has a licorice-freshness (that I personally don't care for) and The Dreamer has a powdery laundry-fresh tobacco vibe (that I do like). I'd say give each one another shot when you're nose is 'blank' again. I would hope you'll see that they're worlds apart.

I don't see any similarities in smell between the two...Dramer is quite unpleasant smelling to me, Body Kouros is very nice

It's kind of funny, because I wore Body Kouros yesterday for the first time in a long time, and I kept thinking of how much it reminded me of The Dreamer. Not so much in individual notes, but more in overall spirit - aggressive synthetics, presented upfront in a love-it-or-hate-it up manner. I also kept getting Hypnotic Poison vibes - again, not so much in the actual composition, but more in the attitude.

So yeah, I can see it.

Body Kouros is like 30% similiar to Le Male.
Dreamer is like 35% similiar to Le Male

(numbers just shooting out of my ass lol)

So yes, they are in some way similiar but overall world away from each other and I'd never missmatch this 2 because they are both unique in its own way and Body Kouros is much better fragrance.

Nope, not much alike at all. Though, Body Kouros does smell a lot like Pi Fraiche (Benzoine is the most prominent note in both). I don't know anything that really smells like the Dreamer, but Le Male has a few similar notes.

Well, what are the odds that of the tens of thousands of people here, making tens of thousands of comparisons over the last 12 years, that nobody noticed that Body Kouros = Dreamer?

OK, my take on BK is....burning marshmallow. Yes. Take a big marshmallow, put it on a fork. Turn a burner on the stove, and steek the marshmallow een de fire. Blow out dee fire. Before you eat marshmallow, smell eet. ==> Body Kouros. (OK now, I got a BIG sample from someone here on BN, and I wore it with success. I like the scent, but it smells like....well you read that already.)

Versace's Dreamer is a sweet vanilla pipe tobacco with a very mild spice to it and a big fat dollup of Iris right in the middle of all the notes.

They're both sweet but different. As different as an apricot and a wad of cotton candy. Just my $0.02
