Shoulder Replacement

Hey all, FYI I'm scheduled to have a complete reverse ( that's when a new socket will be placed where the humeral head is and the socket will be placed where the humeral head is) shoulder replacement on Oct 1st because I have a low grade infection in the joint and the glenoid has worn out from the last shoulder replacement The Dr is Mark Frankle MD and the surgery will be done at Tampa General. I've had 7 previous surgeries in the past 5 years, but this is the scariest so far. Wish me luck and send prayers!!

Luck and prayers sent your way. I'm sure you'll get through it just fine.

Cognizant of the complexities of these surgery techniques, I will, indeed, implore my Savior to guide Dr. Frankle's hands and thoughts, as well as give you the strength and courage so necessary for pre-opt and follow-up, emotional stabilization.
Truly, I only wish you the best for this ordeal.

I'm on the hotline to "Him" right now, he assures you are being looked after, yet refuses to grant me my own personal, selfish wishes.

Oh well, obviously some thngs are more important than others.

Seriously though, prayers and best wishes.

Good to see you're back and posting, Jack!

Love the hospital bed picture. Sorry I missed the graphic one! Stitches, right!

Hey, I'm just curious...with all the surgeries you had, which PCA worked best for you? I have seen morphine and dilaudid PCAs; the one in your hospital pic is an epidural one. I'm a nurse and I don't see epidural ones much anymore, but I do wonder which helped control your pain "best". I also hope you are recovering well!

The PCA Pump actually was the pain killer (Fentyl) that goes directly into the joint from central line. Then 4mg Morphine every 4 hours for breakthrough from the PCA pump as well. I would say the morphine took care for most of the pain . At home I take 15 -30 mg MS every 12 hours for long lasting pain and 10mg Percocet every 6-8 hours PRN. thanks for asking.

Wow, thanks for the video. It looks like a good, cold-therapy system.

I've wish I had that when I broke my shoulder, maybe a year and half ago.
