Need some advice for a classy scent

I'm either going to get a large bottle of Egoiste or Givenchy Gentleman. I love both but can only afford one. I would use it at work and evening events. Thanks, gents!

Either would be good. GG the more affordable option. Recommend the vintage formula.
I'd go with Egoiste although have and like both.

This is a hard one for me. I love Egoiste and see it more as an evening fragrance- romantic, dressed in a suit and tie or tux. GG is more versatile IMO and could be worn at work and then in the evening. Both are very classy.

If I had to choose- in your situation, ie for work then going out- GG IMO. I just find Egoiste too romantic to wear to work.

Both good, but I find Egoiste better in all dimensions: richer, more elegant, warmer.

Both would work, but I think Egoiste is a great work and evening scent.

Egoiste, it's very versatile imo.

Egoist

I prefer Egoiste

Either one works for me.
Givenchy Gentleman if you can get the vintage version.... Otherwise it's a toss up, IMO.

GG for day and Egoiste for evening. Get decants of both, leaving you with $ to try other possibly better stuff.

Egoiste (non-platinum)

Gentleman is good choice, but also you can try Gucci pour homme or Guerlain Heritage

Egoiste without a doubt IMO

My next bottle is going to be Egoiste but I went with Gentleman. I've been wearing it all week and have received compliments. It smells GOOD! Even with the younger crowd they seem to like it. One of the better balanced "older" scents that doesn't necessarily smell old, it justs smells great! Plus, I'm a big fan of patchouli.

Both are great, but I was going to suggest GG if you want a patchouli-themed fragrance and Egoiste if you prefer sandalwood and vanilla.

A very good choice, enjoy!

Definitely Egoiste.

It's good to have an Egoiste bottle in the collection.
I'd recommend Pure Shot layered with Egoiste
post #31 of 39
Hmmmm...both are excellent. Try to get the vintage Gentleman if you go that route. Id say go with the one you can find a better deal on and then get the other for your next purchase after that. If you put a gun to my head and made me choose, I would go with the Vintage Gentleman, just because its going to be harder and harder to find it, whereas Egoiste is relatively easy to acquire. Good luck choosing.

But why?

Class in a bottle? Totally worth it , albeit kind of hard to find nowadays.

If I had to choose between the two you mentioned, it would be Egoiste.
I would go with Egoiste.

I would go with Egoiste.

I agree with this statement.

I didn't like Egoiste at all but I can see it as a classy fragrance. Givenchy Gentleman wasn't too memorable for me (the notes), but I remember liking it. I'd say if you're going for a fragrance that you don't want to ONLY wear in a suit and tie, go for the Givenchy Gentleman ... if you're not going for a strictly suit/tie fragrance, get the Egoiste.
I prefer Egoiste...
Egoiste, definitely... GG is nice, but Egoiste blows it clean out of the water on all sides!
