Strawberrynet UK ordering

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience when ordering ANYTHING from Strawberrynet for delivery to the UK?

They have some cosmetics stuff that I can't easily find in the UK and free delivery too, so I was wondering how good/bad they are. Do they ship from the UK or am I liable to get stung by customs?

I would welcome all your thoughts and opinions. Please also post any links to any previous threads about this as I couldn't find any (well, none this side of 2010...).

Thanks!

I have made a single order from them, on their ebay page, and I didn't get stung by customs. I used their ebay uk listing, which was a bit more expensive than their .au one, but I figured I'd be more likely to end up paying extra taxes somehow with the 'cheaper' listing.

Thanks, Marais. Gratefully appreciate you sharing this with me.

I should check their eBay page out to see if it's any different to their regular .com site. I want some cosmetics products from the Art of Shaving, which pulled out of the UK market a couple (??) of years ago.

Replying to myself. Found what I was looking for on their eBay site as well and have just placed an order. Let's wait and see how long it takes to arrive...

I find the UK site very expensive. Really they are more expensive that going into a department store to buy. I find their prices a joke, if you use the US pricing its so much cheaper.

I did get hit with customs but they refunded, I had to scam the charges and sent to them.

Interesting - thanks for that.
The product I ordered is from the Art of Shaving range (not fragrance) and that brand has pulled out of the UK (European?) market, making it hard to source here. The price was 25-33% less than what I was normally paying here and postage was free so I hope they send it soon and reliably...
I'll be waiting anxiously. Is the UK site just .co.uk at the end?

Still available in the UK, from a reputable company, but don't know how the prices compare with what you've found elsewhere:

I too recently made my first order with Strawberrynet for an Amouage fragrance and I added some post shave repair to get the free shipping. They give a tracking number but with mine I lost tracking of it as soon as it got to the UK so I was not sure whether it was going to be Royal Mail or not who delivered it. About four days after it was shown as entering UK I received a customs bill from Royal Mail which I have now paid. I've filled in the details (and gave a copy of my customs receipt fees receipt) for customs claim refund on the Strawberrynet website a few days ago and I am now awaiting their reply. I will report back how it goes. It is done out of good will so they have no legal entitlement to conform. If I don't get it back it will have cost me slightly more than buying in UK. So I would say in the future expect at worst you could pay about another 25% on top of what you paid for the products if you get stung by customs. Or you could try the shipping option they have that they say covers the customs fees.

Ah, thanks for that. I know this company well and ordered from them before. It's the Ingrown Hair Night Cream that I want and they are out of stock... http://www.brummellsoflondon.com/Men...1440/p281.aspx

Thanks for that. The one item that I ordered cost about £29, so that should be tax-free according to the UK rules. I've been stung by customs before (think that was Fragrance X) but there was no chance of a refund through them... You're right in that they're not obliged to pay you for the tax but at least they make an effort!

I hope I won't get stung, as that would be unfair (I think I read somewhere that the rules are £32 or £35 tax-free?). Do let us know if and how you get your items and tax back. Of course I'll post back to see how my experience went.

No, its £18(some say it was dropped to £15), if marked as a gift then its £35.

Oh and Royal Mail charge you £8 for handling it on behalf of customs. I got caught once and the actual customs was only £3, but with the £8 added on.

Reporting back here as I got my cream last week. They delivered by a courier company I have never heard of. Packaging superb, product as described although I have not tried it on my face yet.... waiting to use up my old bottle. Overall, I'm very happy and will be ordering again in the future (most likely).

Ah, thanks for that. It makes more sense now.
Yes, Royal Mail charged me something more than the VAT if I recall correctly. Clearly a money-making gimmick for them as well. No need to charge more to deliver an item that has been through customs. It's the same weight and size had it not been to them!! Muppets!
