I have found that the problem with having a really good collection or trying to get that perfect collection (like 90% of us on here are trying to do, knowing that we never will lol) is years down the line when you get some really good ones is it can get confusing what to wear at times. Or is that just me??? I find myself mentally battling at times as to what I should wear, then 10 minutes later washing it off because "I changed my mind" .

In your opinion, what do you feel is IDEAL when in the company of a lady friend or in general social environments?

What I usually wear most in order:

  1. Midnight in Paris
  2. Armani Code
  3. Pure Malt
  4. La Nuit de l`Homme
  5. Ambre Narguile
  6. Pure Havane
  7. Allure Pour Homme

Honorable mentions/What else I have:

  1. Chanel - Platinum Egoïste (Work Scent)
  2. YSL- L'Homme (a bit boring)
  3. Love & Luck (GYM)
  4. Dior Homme Sport original(Summer, boring)
  5. HM Hanae Mori (A bit too feminine)

I'd probably say Armani Code although I like and have all seven in your top list and 4 out of the 5 in your second grouping.

MiP...the name suggests it all.

Tough, I voted La Nuit de L'Homme, though Midnight in Paris is absolutely perfect for the same task.
On a side note, before I got into this hobby, Armani Code was the only fragrance I had, but MIP smells similar but so much better I find (the leather vibe that is). MIP I hope it becomes a legend, the bottle is flat out stunning, and the smell carries its own too, totally underrated

I fully agree this. However I disagree, I DO NOT want this to become a legend(although it deserves to) I HATE smelling like other people, I like to have my own unique aroma not the "You smell like Mat" comment I used to get everytime I wore D&G the one lol... It is my hidden GEM nobody knows about it but the fragrance community ...

While maybe not "ideal" I voted Ambre Narguille, as that is the only one of the choices I can recommend.

Ambre Narguile is a fine scent for some occasions, but it is too sweet and "apple pie-ish" for a date IMO. Armani Code is a very nice choice, but I find Pure Malt and Pure Havane garner the most compliments from what you have listed. I think either of those would be yoru best choices - except maybe in very warm weather, in which case I would probably have to say MiP.
Ambre Narguile no doubt.
I think Ambre Narguile smells a bit too much like holiday spice potpourri.

I voted for Pure Havane.
Armani Code b/c that stuff drives girls crazy.
Midnight in Paris is great for romantic date.

But Ambre Narguile has the most 'wow' factor on me.

Its funny you say that because I have only got compliments from from my girlfriend and she only likes it because it reminds of Mip. I always wear it but never get a single comment from anyone...

Yes its in my top three favourites but I find it difficult to wear.

My suggestion would be: La Nuit de l`Homme

Allure Homme for the chicks.

I'm surprised by how well Midnight In Paris is doing here. I guess I may need to seek that one out. Does it differ enough from Bvlgari Black to make it worth owning if I already have BB?

I too am surprised.

I love PM and based off the compliments it would be my go to, specifically for dates I would also throw in La Nuit
post #22 of 40
I went with La Nuit.
It's "sexy" enough for a date and well known to where it won't come off as a "weird" fragrance to others. Even though everyone knows it, it still gets compliments.

Many great fragrances here.....I have to go with Code by Armani.....

+1

I also voted Pure Havane.

On a date, I usually wear nothing. Whereas most guys come off as trying too hard where they spray a ton of cologne, I wear the most exclusive kind of cologne that is available to a man, even more exclusive than Musc Ravaguer. And that's Nothing.

Ok, here's what I think of these fragrances:

Midnight in Paris - i enjoy this one (very underrated), great for a safe social setting
Armani Code - not bad. not original and a bit synthetic, but i like it.
Pure Malt - good choice, especially at the drydown
La Nuit de l`Homme - i know this is considered to be a deity on BN, but i just don't like it
Ambre Narguile - haven't tried this one
Pure Havane - smells like someone chewed tobacco and took a cherry-honey lozenge to ease the throat pain
Allure Pour Homme - very good fresh (a little bit floral scent), sophisticated and timeless
post #26 of 40
Put another plus for Pure Havane.

Two sprays (chest and back) are enough for me: the scent lingers and it leaves a subtle sillage. The drydown is superb and very enjoyable.

Armani Code seems to be the winner among women, though this is a large generalization. I'm not a fan of Midnight in Paris at all. Personally, I'd go with either Ambre Narguile or Pure Havane, and on most days wear Pure Havane. Ambre Narguile to me smells like straight cinnamon, which doesn't work all the time. When it does, it's unbeatable.

I find MiP to be more similar to Armani Code than Bvlgari Black. It smells like Armanic Code minus the star anise/licorice smell.

I've been considering MiP myself. I enjoyed Code, but it had some sort of nauseating note in it -bad enough to where I had to wash my arms within 1 hour.
Would you say that MiP is more of a toned down Code?

Not necessarily toned down b/c it projects and lasts longer than Code on me. It is a slightly more feminine version of Code. It's perfect for romantic occasions. Plus the bottle is absolutely gorgeous.

WOW! You just nailed what I like least about Code. Armani Code has been on my maybe list for a while, but it's the anise that makes me pass in the end. It's not overwhelming, but it's there enough to make me pass in the end (but like I said, it's still on my maybe list). Now I really need to try MiP.

Yes its in my top three favourites but I find it difficult to wear.

It is quit hard to wear in the climate I live since it is so sweet that it could be too much to handle in heat. I think I get really amazing perfomance from AN, one sprays on the chest in the morning and my friends stills able to smell it when I walk by at 8 pm.

It is best for winter.

Mate they are soo different I defo think its worth owning them both its like having the original A*men and having pure malt. There is enough of a difference to just get both. IMO its twice as good as black. I wore it today and the wifey loves it

I wore Midnight in Paris EDP last winter season, and it did cut through the cold/freezing weather weather. Though, I rarely received compliments on it compared to when I wore Allure Homme.

lol the funniest thing about MIP for me, is that it got me into the fragrance game basically. I read an Ask Men article that recommended some fragrances, and this was recommended for a date. I blight bought it and holy crap was this good. MIP, although not my favorite and though technically I prefer La Nuit slightly, is a frigging masterpiece, and if can be found at reasonable price online as opposed to retail (I got my EDP for 40 bucks) is a fantastic accomplishment.
If VC&A ever make another male frag, I'm all ears, cause this thing was a total eye opener for me....not to mention best eye candy ever.

Ambre Narguile is one of my fave smells, but I will hold on purchasing for a while (price is a bit high, and I still am at like 85% or more remaining in all of my rotation).

Sorry to hijack the thread, but if you really like Ambre narguile and don't want to pay the $200+ price tag for a bottle, check out the Hermes travel set. It comes with x4 15ml mini atomizers of any Hermessence of your choice for $145. It includes pouches for the bottles (which look like a baby version of the Heremessence bottle) and a bow wrapped coffret box. You could essentially get 60ml of Ambre Narguile for $145.

Ah, not my cup of tea then :/. The bottle truly is a work of art, it's the main reason I was going to purchase it in the first place.
