LIDGE - just WOW!

So my bottle of LIDGE from escentual just arrived. It was semi blind buy for me. I tried it just on strip paper in duty free shop this summer, and 3 months later I could still smell scent from strip... Anyway. Full bottle is here and my first skin test...

1 spray on each wrist.

First impressions:

1. It doesnt project lot (I have to put my nose close to wrist to smell it)
2. This doesnt smell like perfume. It is like your second skin. Just awesome. Nothing synthetic at all here.

Great scent. I am sure it will easy become one of my favourites.

Glad you like it and I'm wearing it now as my SOTD. This one though has very good projection which you will find out when you wear it more. It also last twelve hours or so on my skin.

Enjoy it. It's a wonderful fragrance.

I'm on my second bottle of this stuff. My girlfriend tells me it smells like expensive rootbeer.

It was a blind buy for me and I adore it. Your correct on it not smelling synthetic. The most beautiful natural cocoa I've smelt in a frag.

LIDGE was my best blind buy to date.

I want to pick up another bottle and will be in Germany and Italy next month. Is it easy to find? If so what stores carry it?

Never heard that comparison before haha.

The weather is just right for L'Instant Extreme here in PA for a night out. Been wearing that and Cuir Beluga a lot.

If you're visiting Milan, Rome or Florence basically all Sephora stores plus good fragrance stores/department stores will carry it. Pretty easy to find, at least in the central areas of those cities.

I did this too. I basically bought two just because I was afraid of just owning one.

the small Douglas in germany don't necessarily have it, they just sell the EdT. The small niche shops don't necessarily sell Guerlain. So I rcommend to look for a huge Douglas in a bigger city or other huge luxury stores like Alsterhaus in Hamburg, Breuninger in Stuttgart. In Berlin I think Douglas Ku'damm. Munich don't know. In the big cities it should not be too difficult to find.

I think if you like LIDGE you will love Midnight in Paris for half of the price.

I've added another spray on my neck before going out and it was lingering around nice. I am suprised that it is called cacao bomb. On my skin its as much patchouli (or even more) as cacao. Pure class. A*Men for grown up.

BTW its funny that my sister asked me if I sprayed new fragrance on me. I asked her why and she told me: Because it doesnt smell good. lol... F*** it. I dont care what her or anyone else thing. Its masterpiece.

LIDGE is probably the best designer scent I have tried. Just an amazing stuff!
Great, innit?

You're right about the projection - it is a bit shy. Lasts about two hours on me but its a great two hours.
On me it projects great and lasting power is 8+

Thanks I will be in Munich and will look for a Douglas while I'm there.

its amazing!!! youll start noticing projection soon enough hehehe
post #21 of 40
Some people will criticize it because it's such a "Basenotes Darling", but really, it is some amazing kind of stuff.

I wanted to like it...love it actually, but it wasn't for me. I agree that it is a great fragrance and that it is in a league of it's own, but it just wasn't right for me...sadly. I'm glad that you enjoy it and I hope you continue to love it.

The first time I wore it, I wasn't a fan. In fact, I didn't get the hype. Few months later, I decided to try it on again. This time, WOW! Not sure if my nose changed or if it was the weather, but I really liked it. Ended up picking up a bottle sometime later when I was traveling at Istanbul Airport.

Not sure why it's not available in the US.

LIDGE madness continue. Yesterday I wore it first time around my girlfriend and she is as huge fan as I am. She said that I should wear it as often as possible and that its on par with her favourite on me - Gucci II. It says a lot because she prefer fresh scents on me (Gucci II, ADG, Versace PH, Declaration, etc.).

Now is there anything similiar in style that would fit women? I plan to buy Black Orchid for her, which both of us love too, but I'd also like to get her something more classy. Alien and Angel are great but IMO are more daring and sexy than sophisticated scents and we are not fans of Coco, no5, Mitsouko or Shalimar (Shalimar is best of bunch but still kinda old school).

Maybe Coromandel?

I have to bump this 1 more time. My male coworker who never complimented any of my fragrances and usually just complain about everything said that something in our office smells really good when I was wearing LIDGE. I just hope that Guerlain wont ever reformulate LIDGE.

Indeed bro . Your top 5 got some real overhaul. I am interested in L'eau d'Hiver and Noir de Noir but, hey, do I really need another fragrance ? Right now I feel like I could live with just LIDGE for rest of my life. Its that good for me. Even Musc Ravageur or LADDM cant beat it.
It's not a contempo scent, but not old man either. Just classy
post #27 of 40
AUSTRALIA !! Why would you deprive me of the opportunity to test this scent.
It's a little too sweet for me, but you never know... one day it may grow on me!!

Did the exact same thing here as well. Only time I've ever done that so far.
Is it possible to hype/praise this fragrance anymore?
I personally do not care what is hyped and what isn't. I wear what I like, regardless of the hype, amount of people that wear it, or the negative reviews it has received. Also works the other way around, Egoiste is hyped to hell on this board and I do not like it whatsoever. Same goes with Heritage, Habit Rouge, Jicky, and Derby.

I find this one really overrated. Smells like someone doused some dark chocolate Nesquick powder with orange juice.
After reading this thread, i must try it too, no other choise -At least the box looks nice and it's often a good indication.

That's what its top notes smell like... How about the heart and base notes?
Very rich, dark, warm fragrance. I enjoy it very much
post #36 of 40
Fine stuff. An essential component of any well-rounded men's collection. My SotE, and I am thoroughly loving it.

This is really some awesome juice! Did a blind buy of this online, and it was probably the best investment that I ever made on a fragrance. I do get the root beer thing from it too, which until it was pointed out, I had never noticed. I also think it reminds me just slightly of Obsession, but not as obnoxious, and it is just more classier to me. Other times I get the cocoa scent from it, and then other times, combinations of things. First time I wore it a few weeks ago, I was approached by someone who was getting out of her car, and the first words she asked was what scent I was wearing, and that was after I had it on for about two or three hours and with just two short bursts of it. Very long lasting, great projection, and I just love it. Will definitely be picking up another bottle in the next week or two, before this one becomes harder to find, or before reformulations start to occur such as in DHI, which I love also though, I also have the EDT of this, (non intense version) and love that one too
post #38 of 40
I'd like to try this and the original version of it too
post #39 of 40
I've worn mine twice now. So far, it's ok, but not mind blowing. I really don't think it's going to change my life. It smells better, but more subdued, than the regular edt. I actually prefer the edt for the brightness and projection it offers. There's more to enjoy and not have to dig for. I wish LIDGE had more oomph.
LIDGE lasts a good 8-10 hours on my skin. Sometimes when I wake up the next morning, I can still smell it on my skin. It projects really well on my skin without being offensive to anyone
