Tubereuse Criminelle without the top notes

Mornign all

Recently had the opportunity to try Tubereuse Criminelle and I adore it expect for the top notes which smell of Germoline to me! It really spoils what would otherwise be a great experience so I wondered what else was out there that smelled like TC but with a different opening or do I have to just either suck it up or pass altogether...

Cheers

Can't think of anything like that but it's the top notes that makes TC fabulous.

Hopefully someone will come along with a suggestion.

I agree. That said you should probably try a more classic tubereuse/gardenia/jasmine. If you don't mind loud stuff, you might also want to check Fracas and Giorgio Beverly Hills.

I agree that it is Germolene! But the cool menthol, antiseptic vibe is not just at the top. It persists almost all the way through the development, and I am sorry if I sound pushy but I would bet you that these cool notes juxtaposed with the heady tuberose is why it works for you!! It just wouldn't work for you if you didn't like that.

You could maybe try Carnal Flower?

Smell Estee Lauder's Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia. It might work for you.

l personally find the drydown of TC to be more of a quiet jasmine/orange blossom than tuberose. ln which case you may enjoy By Kilian's Love & Tears, or the louder Jasmin Full by Montale.

lf you want a quiet tuberose soliflore, try L'Artisan's Tubereuse.

Otherwise, Carnal Flower & Fracas are great suggestions for a more complex but beautiful tuberose fragrance. l would add By Kilian's Beyond Love to the list.

Indeed. Beyond Love is nice! For a little more complexity try Histoires de Parfums Tubereuse 1 and 3.

Cannot think of anything like TC, but other big, interesting tuberoses are the already suggested Carnal Flower and $$$$$ JAR Eclair.

Perhaps one of the three Tuberroses by PdH

I love that medical Germolene note, which it would stay all through TC.

You will grow to enjoy it I'm sure - it becomes addictive.

I've got a feeling you might be right - I've had another go tempted by some of the comments above and I've got to thinking it's not as bad as I'd built it up to be in my mind. Going for another wear tomorrow and then I'm half preparing to get that wallet emptying feeling...

The first time I sniffed this i had read nothing about it - it literally made me go "HOLY SH*T!" I bought it on the spot. I (like most people on here) find the opening the most compelling part, what happens afterwards is just gravy. The cold medicinal opening is powerful and confident, it gives Tubereuse Criminelle it's personality, and whilst you say you enjoy the rest, you'll still find the sterile start trailing throughout. Wear it more and yeh, you'll enjoy it more and more.
