The sample pass is now closed to new members.
Oh those dreaded reformulations! Yet once in a while, fragrances are actually improved by reformulation.
The original Evelyn (1993-2003) had marvelous sillage and longevity and a great sandalwood base.
Its successor, the first Evelyn Rose (2003-2012), always seemed wimpy to me. The edt vanished from my skin without a trace in 15 minutes flat, and even the edp lacked depth.
That version of Evelyn Rose has been replaced. This new edp formulation adds notes of bergamot and amber, and lasts considerably longer than its predecessor.
The Crabtree & Evelyn store at West Farms Mall, Farmington, CT kindly allowed me to decant some juice from their tester of the new Evelyn Rose edp, for the purpose of a sampling group (Thank you, Ashley!)
• To this I will add samples decanted from my own bottle of the original Evelyn, for comparison.
Each member will have one set of samples to keep, consisting of 0.7 ml dabber vials of both fragrances.
Men who love roses are welcome to join our sampling pass. Roses have no gender!
To participate you must have joined BN before today's date and have made at least 10 posts.
Please post some impressions. Doesn't need to be lengthy! Let's give readers some idea of what the new fragrance is like. Not everyone is near a store to test for themselves, and some buy blind.
I'd like to set up 3 groups with 2 members each. (USA only due to postal restrictions.)
I'll mail 2 sets of samples to the first members of each group, who will keep one set of samples for themselves and mail the 2nd set of samples to the person after them in their group. First 3 members, PM me your name/address; second 3 members, give your address to the person mailing to you.
Postage to send it to the second member will cost you $1.95. No need to go to the post office-- just throw some stamps on the mailer and drop it in the mailbox.
Who's interested?
