Tobacco Vanille and Burberry London

EDIT: Please note that whether there are similarities or not is NOT the question and point of this thread.

Does anyone else see some similarities that make it hard to own both? They share similar notes, and they smell pretty similar when sprayed side by side (to me). I have to admit though, London has a spicier undertone with that little boozy note that lingers.

The issue I have is, I really like both of them, but it's kind of hard to justify having both in my collection. I already have London (100mL, just bought it a few weeks ago), and I got a sample of TV to see what it was like, and now I kind of like TV more, even if it is sweeter (and I generally don't like sweet fragrances).

Do any of you have both in your collections? If so, how do you find wearing them when the winter comes around and you have to choose between them.

How can anyone say there are no similarities? There is one right away in the fact that they share notes (tobacco among them). I sprayed them both minutes apart and, while not identical or even super similar, there is definitely the same vibe going on.

Regardless, that's not the question. The question is whether you find yourself reaching for one more than the other if you own both and why. I would think that if I had both, I'd end up favoring one over the other potentially to the point where one would go unused.

While there might be similarities between them, they are miles apart.
If you are basing your comments on the tobacco note in them, then you might as well rule out hundreds of other fragrances because they have tobacco in them also.

I suppose it comes down to how many fragrances you want in your wardrobe. If you only want less than 10 bottles in your wardrobe, then don't get both.

Very different but both outstanding. I find London to be an everyday scent that's versitile enough for work. TV I save for more formal occassions. I especially love it on winter evenings or weekends where I'm spending most of the time outdoors. Wore it to visit some European Christmas markets in the snow last year. Stood there eating cinammon pretzels, drinking Glühwein, it cut through the cold beautifully. Easily my favourite wearing of that fragrance.

2) When it comes to scent collecting, I guess it depends on you. Is money an issue? Regardless of what others think, HOW close do they smell to you (that's all that really matters)? If they're nearly identical to you, then owning both wouldn't make sense. However, you feel that TV is a little sweeter...there may be a time when you're in the mood for something sweeter, and other times when you want the London. Bottom line: For me, unless two scents are virtually identical, if I LOVE it, I will own it.

Own both and don't find any similarities. I won't be replacing either, however, when and if I ever run out of them as I prefer and own other scents in their respective categories I prefer more nowadays. Both are quality scents certainly worthy of purchase, however.

I have london, and a sample of TV that i dip into now and then. London is fruitier than TV, and so I usually lean towards the latter. They do have very similar vibes. I would use both for pretty much the identical situations/moods. Once you're done with London, or have about a fifth of the bottle left, pitch in for TV. I may not be able to (student, budget et al) anytime soon, but that's what I would go for.

I find your comparison very interesting for I consider both fragrances to be worlds apart. I really don't see how you find them to be similar. That being said, I would own both of them. Both serve a good purpose. I like TV a lot more but BL is a fantastic edp. Don't run out to buy TV. Use you bottle of BL and when it's time for a new one, get a bottle of TV. Don't over spend on what is totally unnecessary.

Yep...I love how many different books he pops up in. Haven't read them all, I just know he's in a bunch. Dark Tower is an awesome series.

I definitely get tobacco and vanilla notes in Burberry London's dry down, which reminds me of Tobacco Vanille; but only very briefly.

Burberry London and TV are worlds apart but within the "same feel" if that makes any sense. Some others which belong to this are Eau De Beux, Tea for Two (Lesser so), and Spicebomb.

I own both and agree with the similarities, They are different enought to make it worth owning both.

Ive worn London to work, I wouldn't wear TV to work
