YSL- L'homme or YSL La Nuit de L'homme?

Which makes a better signature scent based on longevity, projection, sillage, and versatility?
Scent: L'Homme
Longevity: La Nuit
Sillage: La Nuit
Versatility: L'Homme

I'd pick the original L'Homme. The longevity issue can be compensated by either more sprays or reapplication.

La Nuit did nothing for me, but L'Homme is on my Buy list. For me, it doesn't last ALL day, but it lasts MOST the day. I found it worked best on me when I sprayed each wrist and once on my chest. It won't fill a room, but will stay close, so I like it for work...but it's also a nice changeup for a date.

Both are nice, but I think L'Homme is more versatile.

La Nuit is more unique and mystical

+1. if you are talking in terms of those four factors, that ^ will be the answer.

But I will pick La Nuit as its more of a date scent

I'd choose L'homme as I find it quite a bit more versatile

The problem with L'Homme, on many people is that it tends to fade away quickly. It is a far better signature scent than La Nuit, but carry a decant.
Scent wise, I prefer sweet scents and loved La Nuit for the longest time. However, after purchasing a 1.3oz of L'Homme, I can say that I prefer it over La Nuit. I have a 3.3 oz of La Nuit and a 1.3 of L'Homme, if I could switch bottle sizes, I would.

Nuit lasts....go for that reason for me.

That's what I was thinking. It's just not practical for me to keep reapplying during school

for me L'homme = 4/5, La Nuit = 4.5/5
L'homme for warmer weather and La Nuit for colder weather. If you can grab both.
L'Homme is more versatile, but La Nuit on projection and longevity. Might as well get 'em both. I thought I didn't like La Nuit until I started wearing L'Homme.
I much prefer original L'homme even though it has weaker longevity and projection. La nuit is way too sweet and doesn't satisfy me in any way.
I suppose L'homme is more versitile, but I can't think of many occasions where I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing La Nuit. The Longevity and Projection and the absolutely alluring mid/basenotes on La Nuit are the reason why it is in my collection. Strangely enough, I have received some very strong compliments from men on this one.

I do like the smell of L'homme, but I can't deal with the L&S issues.

Versatility: YSL L'Homme
All the other points: YSL La Nuit de L'homme EDP
post #19 of 33
L'Homme is the most versatile and is a wonderful fragrance...yet it doesn't last, I have used 3 3.4oz bottles since 2009. It was my signature scent for awhile I currently have a 1.3oz as I have so many other fragrances.

La Nuit is great as well. Definitely lasts a lot longer. I only own a sample but I am considering buying a 1.3oz.

I'd say go with L'Homme if you want a really versatile scent. Otherwise go with La Nuit.
Actually, I'd say go with Kouros from YSL if you want a real man's scent

How does the drydown of La Nuit differ from the drydown of L'Homme?

I was wearing a sample of La Nuit recently and was really surprised by how the drydown reminded me of the drydown of Gucci Pour Homme (2003). Gph and La Nuit start so differently. I woke up the next day thinking "I wore La Nuit yesterday?! Wow, this smells like Gph!" CLEARLY, I need to revisit L'homme sometime...

They are both GREAT, buy BOTH
I like them both but side with L'homme overall. The versatility is a nice feature.

I own La'Nuit and love it...and now I'm debating on buying L'homme... is it worth it to get both?

IMO Yes.

I've got La Nuit, will have to give L'homme another try. But am currently contemplating buying Libre. Which I've tested today.

Agree

Love La Nuit. Guess people pigeonhole it as an evening fragrance due to its name, but I wear it all the time during the day and it works great. Tons of compliments.

Purely scent-to-scent, I think La Nuit is much more interesting and pleasant, not that l'homme isn't really nice.  Agree with mjones, I've occasionally done some of these "nighttime" scents during the day (La Nuit, The One) and they don't seem out of place at all
