Layering: Tom Ford Oud Wood & ...

When I bought the Oud Wood the sales lady says that this scent is good for layering. Got plenty of positive responses on the Oud Wood alone from friends and family. Heh if they like it alone why not double the pleasure. Layered with a couple frags. Got absolutely no responses Im talking crickets chirping quiet. Got the message there. its a negative. But today I tried it with Platinum Egoiste. Wife give me morning hug and bam. She gives me an unsolicited compliment. You really smell good! Have I finally hit on something? Or shall I stay on safe footing while at work tomorrow?

If it works for your wife, that should do!

The usual combo is oud and rose, though I have never tried layering oud wood with a rose perfume.

Oud Wood + Arabian Wood = Arabian Wood...?
Oud Wood + Tuscan Leather= Leather Oud (Dior copyright infringement?)
Oud Wood + Black Violet= Black (A)Oud (Montale too?)
Oud Wood + Tobacco Vanille= Tobacc'oud. Now we're talking!
Oud Wood + Noir de Noir= Oud Noir which translates to Black Oud again.

Oud Wood is one of the more boring Private Blends, but it layers well with the others. I'm not saying it's a bad scent on it's own, it's just a little lackluster compared to the others.

As you and your wife liked it, go for it.

Sounds like a good reason to buy PE. But we shouldn't have to go to such lengths should we?

Try a Lavender Palm + Oud Wood combo, if you can lay your hands on a sample. 2/3 Lavender Palm + 1/3 Oud Wood.

I've read comments with similar sentiments. I plan to return to Neiman Marcus this Saturday to check other private blend scents.
