Polo Black is bar far the most complemented fragrance i own, I a really love the smell. Since I came on this forum and purchase some more "quality" juice it does seem a little weak.

Does anyone know of a fragrences the smells very similar but stronger or better quality? (im not looking for the same purpose or style im looking for similar notes)

I own the following

TV
aventus
TDH
YSL La nuit
Allure homme sport
Fuel for life
Polo Black
Burberry London

Thanks

I own Black, and used to own Double Black, I really enjoy both of them. Black is really quite underrated, and I agree, very complimented. It just lacks so much in longevity. IMO, Beckham Instinct Intense, is very similar, and stronger with better longevity, and creamier dry down, but is also becoming more rare and hard to find lately. At first I thought I was getting really bad longevity, but it was just olfactory fatigue, people could smell it on me 6 hours after application.

Other than that, and Double Black, I can't really compare any.

Update: I also think Lanvin Arpege pH is similar. But also discontinued here, and harder to find lately.

I also like Polo Black - but find the longevity a little lacking. However, I couldn't wear it all day -- it gets a little cloying to me after a while.
Also, I don't think Polo Double Black smells very similar to Polo Black IMO. Mango does not seem to be a very common note in male fragrances, so you may have a difficult time finding something similar. I can't think of anything.

Un Jardin Sur Le Nil Hermes

Shares the same main note (mango). May be worth a sample?

A better choice IMO.

Almost ANYTHING is better than Polo Black.
I blindly bought a 3.4 oz bottle of Polo Black and guess what?, I gave it away after four wearings, and honestly I felt bad for the poor guy I gave it to, I felt like a traitor to my friend.

A plastic synthetic mess.
It stinks.

I'm not the forum police here or have any scent to add but the OP has already acknowledged that he loves how Polo Black smells but wants an alternative. Basically telling him his taste sucks doesn't help. Just alternatives.

Even I did the same thing. I gave it away to one of my friends. I found it way too synthetic and it gave me headaches every time I wore it.

I find Polo Double Black much better than the Black. Try it if you haven't.
I dont think that there is anything similar to Black other than the Double Black.

Try Polo Double Black by Ralph Lauren, my impressions are below ↓↓↓. However, like Polo Black, the longevity and projection are both lacking.

Polo Double Black by Ralph Lauren - This pleasant, woody and oriental fragrance opens with a splatter of beautiful mango, lightly seasoned by pepper. This tropical fruity vibe is short-lived, and transitions rather quickly to the awaiting heart. The enjoyable middle has a sweet and soft, roasted-coffee note, with the added warmth of nutmeg. A twinkling of juniper berry announces the enveloping base with its spicy cardamon and dry woods. The composition is well blended, and, at times, subtle. Albeit a very enjoyable experience, the longevity and projection are both lacking.

The OP has already tried Polo Double Black.

Personally, I can't think of anything that smells like Polo Black. Sorry.

I can't think of anything other than Double Black either. It's funny, I have a friend that wears black & I actually think it smells great on him. I don't like it on me or out of the bottle, however. PDB does smell good on me, though. I don't think they're overly similar, but it's the closest I can think of...

Polo Green is much better than Polo Black. :-)

Or if that is too much to swallow, how about Modern Reserve? I rarely get frag compliments (other than while wearing Aventus), but I did get a comment last early spring from a young girl (mid 20's) that she loved my cologne. It was Modern Reserve.

So even though it's not as close to Double Black, Mandarina Pure Black could be a 1st cousin to both of them. It's reasonably close in smell, and entirely similar in style to the two of them. The emphasis of Pure Black is on the tonka bean and the top notes feature tangerine instead of mango. But the structures are similar. Definetly give Pure Black a try.
