Looking for a new frag thats very masculine but also modern!

Thread Starter
hey guys so im at it again for the perfect man frag. Im a 24 yr old male looking for a frag that smells really masculine and interesting but also something women my age would like. Great longevity and moderate/heavy silage is also good!

i dont really enjoy fruity citrus/ and i HATE powdery or flowery stuff.

price point: under 100

Examples of colognes i find masculine smelling polo green, drakkar noir, rive gauche, aramis, dirty english

examples i find to smell too feminine: versace dreamer, versace light blue, le male, ck obsession

thanks for the help guys i know im insanely picky lol

If you like dirty english and want a modern masculine scent, check out Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford.

I don't have much experience with women your age. Still, you could check Yatagan (green vegetables turning into woods), or, in niche perfumery (but they should cost $85), ELdO Rien (bitter, animalic leather) or Tom of Finland (saffrony leather). And a classic of the macho-man genre, Chanel Antaeus.

Paul Smith Man
Fahrenheit
Encre Noire

Possibly Dior homme or Dior homme Intense -- people say there is a feminine lipstick note, but I don't get it in either.

Terre d'Hermes Parfum, possibly CK Eternity (the initial release, not its flankers).

Get a vetiver! Here are some worth checking out

Tom For Grey Vetiver
Comme Des Garcons Vettiveru
Comme Des Garcons 2 Man

...alternatively, Aramis Tuscany Per Uomo.

If you have some patience, you may also score a bottle of Rochas Macassar on the e-bay for reasonably cheap...

+1 Fahrenheit
+1 Encre Noire
You mentioned Polo green - how about Polo Modern Reserve?

That aside, I second Grey Vetiver.
Apart from Grey Vetiver (which I rate very highly), you might want to try DSquared Rocky Mountain Wood, Byblos in Black and Quorum Silver. These are all frags that are masculine without being in the least retro (unlike, say, Polo Green...)

I'm a big fan of Tom Ford for Men (I've heard that Tom Ford for Men Extreme is better, but I haven't had the chance to try it yet...it's also above your budget line). Granted, I haven't tried many of the other ones listed here, but when I put TFFM on, I just FEEL like I exude "man." Now...I'm 34...and I feel that TFFM smells like a classy guy a TAD older than me (35-40). Take that for what you will...just how I see it.

Try:

Norne by Slumberhouse - Upon application, one is treated to a stand of black hemlocks. The scent of pine needles, pine sap and pine bark creates a coniferous delight. The smoky and sweetly charred-wood facets of clove waft about creating the illusion of a distant campfire somewhere. Transitioning, a resinous, camphor aura comes into its own reminding of crushed-pine needles. Crestworts supply an aromatic mustiness, while champignon contributes its mouldy, mushroom aspects. Moss and lichen, with their dank and earthy character, complete the forest undergrowth mirage. The foresty pines segue to the base where a colophony incense sprinkles its splendid, aromatic, pine resin and smokiness. while a joyful woodiness from pepper flutters about. A spiritual element is added to the outdoorsy pine. A pleasing drydown ensues. This masculine, nature-loving composition has very good projection and longevity.

You are past 30 bro ....no matter what way you cut it. In the same boat as the guy 36 and his buddy who turned 37 last week. Don't focus so much on the age thing and just enjoy yourself

Comme des Garçons Wonderwood.

Chanel Platinum Egoiste is an all around winner. Appeals to young women? Check. Masculine? Check. Staying power and projection? Check. Extremely versatile (day/evening, all seasons)? Check. Fits your budget? Check.

Not focused on age. I'm just saying that when I smell it, my mind pictures a guy SLIGHTLY older than me. Right now, it's on my Buy list.

Here are mine:

Polo Black (not Double Black, though, for me)
Bvlgari pour homme
Chic by Carolina Herrera
Armani Mania
Armani Code
Fahrenheit as mentioned by others is probably the best answer while old it smells timeless and it has the longevity/silage your after. L'Instant de Guerlain extreme is another.
Bulgari Black
I'd suggest Fahrenheit or Fahrenheit Absolute. That said, Armani Code is extremely popular with the ladies (I just turned 26), and everyone seems to LOVE Encre Noire.
My first recommendation is a scent called KINSKI, fits the bill for what you described to a tee!

Also, I fully endorse the following...

Comme Des Garcons 2 Man
Bvlgari Black
Encre Noire
Paul SMith Story
Gucci Envy for Men
Miller Harris Feuilles de Tabac
Zirh Ikon
Dior Fahrenheit (still smells modern after almost 25 years!)
Chanel Platinum Egoiste.

Unfortunately women your age tend to like the clean, transparent or freshly-scrubbed stuff on their boys. Scents like AdG, Cool Water, Chanel Bleu or Herrera Aqua will score well with this group.

But for a dose of intrigue to keep them guessing, try Chanel Sycamore.

i'm 27 and i feel like i've def moved into the late 20's bracket, but when i was 24 and even now i think i always gravitated towards what you've initially described. when i think of "very masculine" in terms of fragrances i think:

- variations on wood, whether they be spicy or dry or airy aromatic
- variations on leather, again, whether they be spicy or dry or airy aromatic
- 70's/80's powerhouse - which is basically throwing in the kitchen sink or every variation of "oriental" you can think of

that being said, you said you don't enjoy citrus or powder. someone mentioned Dior Homme - don't do it. you'll hate it. it works on some guys' chemistry, i've witnessed it (smelled?) for myself, but on most that powdery iris ends up like smelling like old lady hair spray. same for a lot of the male Prada offerings.

i like the nostalgia factor of a lot of the early 90's mentions like Eternity and the powerhouse Azzaro Pour Homme - but i feel like they are def dated. i own both, but when i wear them, it's purely for my own enjoyment - Eternity has illicited comments like "you smell like middle school" and APH has gotten "you smell like a used car salesman in the 70's."

on a more positive note, Platinum Egoiste has garnered many compliments and with a light application smells fantastic and doesn't have that same dated feeling as Eternity, Carolina Herrera, etc. i don't know what it is, but Chanel nails that aromatic, fresh, wood thing perfectly. it's an anytime scent too. i can see it worn with a tux or t-shirt and jeans. it's the right lightness but also the right heaviness. i literally only have to spray it once and its enough.

that being said, you said u want the ladies to enjoy this scent as much as you do, so my recc is CDG Kyoto. it's a super clean (which hits the modern thing) with dry wood and smokey incense (the masc you're looking for) combo. i've received nothing but compliments on this scent. there aren't a lot of mainstream/mall scents out there with this composition currently since the masses are demanding more of a Chanel Bleu feel, so you'll stand out too. it's different but is still understandable.

Mark Birley Charles Street is a lighter version of Tuscan Leather. The words "masculine" and "modern" are relative here.
The only one I can suggest (which I am not fond of myself) would be Michael Kors. Dirty English may fit the bill as well, however it is not as masculine as one would assume

Nice suggestions! I wonder no one mentioned CH 212?!
Sounds like you want big scent with woods, tobacco, leather, moss etc. but no: powder, florals or citrus, and for under $100 (*some are a bit over a hundred). Try these.

Morabito Or Black
Regence Kolnisch Juchten
Caron Yatagan
*Divine L'Homme Sage
Comme des Garcons Avignon
Gucci Pour Homme
*Aramis Perfume Calligraphy

Caron Yatagan. Sample before you buy though, it's like Marmite. You either love it or hate it. Very masculine nonetheless, puts hair on your chest.
