If you could only wear one house...

Thread Starter
I was inspired by the thread by phi, planning to build his entire wardrobe from Bond no.9 frags. Made me wonder, if you could only wear fragrances from one house, designer or niche, which one would you chose and why?

Keep in mind that in this scenario, all your fragrances have to be from this house, so you might want to look for versatility and range of fragrances as well as quality.

It would be hard to decide, but it would most likely be a close combat between the following: Chanel, Dior, Caron, YSL, Guerlain, Hermes and Givenchy. All of them are, in my opinion, outstanding in terms of versatility, creativity and quality.

Easy for me - Chanel. Between the Exclusifs and their main line, all my needs would be met.

My 2 favourite Frags of all time are Fahrenheit and Dior Homme Intense, so I'd have to go for Dior.

Supertough choice. Perhaps Etat Libre d'Orange for me, the quirky line has a pretty broad spectrum of scents, from traditional fresh (Eloge), or masculine (Je suis), to leathers (Rien, Tom of Finland), florals (Jasmin et cigarette, rossy, etc.) and more. But Chanel would also do, with its exclusives.

Hard for me to say since I'm relatively new to fragrances. I like a lot of different things, but I'd want a house that has a LOT of choices, most of which would be fairly different from one another.

I guess if I had to choose, it'd be Creed since I like a good amount of their stuff, but not enough to buy it. So, I assume that I'd like them more if I could only wear stuff from Creed. Plus, Aventus is my comfort scent, so I would have a hard time being without that.

Dior
Guerlain
During my limited time/experience, I've found that I like most of the scents I've tried from Chanel and Tom Ford....with the edge going to Chanel.
Chanel for me.
Only one? Oh well, sweat, sweat. It would have to be Dior.
Creed as I like them.
Tauer for me.
Considering it'd include the Pentachord line and Zeta - there's my fresh translucent fragrances. Then you got your heavy winter stuff - the classic line - throwing Tableau in there too and that'd be gravy
This choice would CLOSELY be followed by Aftelier

Tough call... It would have to be either Malle, Micallef or Mona di Orio. If I had to choose, then I guess Malle.
Creed or Guerlain here.
Between Dior, Amouage, and Creed. Thing is Creed has the deepest bench, but I still don't know.
Chanel. I like all their frags.
For mainstream, I'd say Chanel. Niche would be L'Artisan.
I would have chosen Caron, but that much strength all the time would be too much, so Dior, mostly vintage formulae, as I like the range within the house best: all Poisons, Diorella, Diorama, Miss Dior, Miss Dior Cherie, Fahrenheit, Dioressence, Dune, Diorling, Diorissimo, Eau Sauvage, La Collection. Set for most every occasion.
Designer: Chanel Niche: Creed

Don't know how to decide between the 2....
frederic malle........ but man i would be sad
post #22 of 125
It would have to be Creed - I am usually in love with most of their fragrances.
Editions de Parfums - I like the fragrances and the line has enough versatility for my preferences.
One house only? YSL.
At this point, Hermes. I like the most number of scents so far from this house out of any other house. Runners up: Guerlain, Chanel, YSL. I have yet to try many Dior, but I would like to work on that.

Cheers!
Escentric Molecules (especially so if it includes Kinski and Beautiful Mind)
I wear either Dior Homme or Dior Homme Intense about 80% of the time these days and I'm also a big fan of Farenheit, so it would have to be Dior for me. Creed or Guerlain would be close seconds. I think between those 3 houses I could be completely satisfied fragrancewise for the rest of my life.

+1!!!

or

even now maybe more Patricia Nicolai

Guerlain
I own the most Penhaligon's, and I'd have a hard time living without Sartorial, so I guess it's an easy choice for me. They've also got a nice, large range, so I wouldn't be too limited in style.
Dior.
For mainstream, it would be Guerlain with Chanel a really close 2nd.
For niche, it would be Frederic Malle.
Comme Des Garcons or Guerlain
Piguet
If this meant I had acess to their entire range. Which is to say all reformulations, and every fragrance ever made by said house, whether discontinued or not, in all concentrations then Guerlain would be my top pick. I could put together a very sizable collection that way.

If it were only fragrances in production then the choice becomes a difficult one. In the end it will probably be Annick Goutal though despite the lightness of their scents. If I did not have acess to their fragrances I'd be unable to wear many fragrances in summer. Plus they have a good lineup of winter scents as well.
If it were mainstream it would be a toss up between Guerlain and Chanel and if it were nich it would have to be Malle.
Creed, but I'd hate to be put to that limitation. Tom Ford, Chanel, Guerlain, Malle, Amouage, Acqua di Parma and Profumum all number among my favorite houses as well. I think MFK will soon be added to that list also.
Creed, they have everything covered.
Chanel or Creed
Tough one but I'll go with Creed.

If I lived in a colder climate though I'd choose Tom Ford (I love the private blend line but find they work best during fall and especially winter).
I own proportionately more Creeds than any other house, so they would be the logical answer. I would never want to be faced with such a scenario though.
Chanel. But I'd be missing Hermes terribly! And I'm keeping all my pre-Wasser Shalimar, no one can stop me.
I would go for Prada but I'd miss Histoires de Parfums, Parfum d'Empire and few more.
I am torn between Chanel and Guerlain...

Would have to be Chanel.
It would have to be Guerlain for me. Chanel would be close - I'd hate to have to give up Egoiste and Anteus - but there are more Guerlain fragrances that I love.

Oh, but how could I lose Rive Gauche and Eau Sauvage? No, the one house would have to be my house, and all the fragrances in it
post #46 of 125
Dior, if vintage. If only current formulae then probably Chanel including Les Exclusifs
post #47 of 125
Out of less than 20 fragrances of mine, at least six or seven are by L'Artisan- not to mention the ones I owned in the past!
So, it must be L'Artisan!
Amouage because it's quality for real!
Probably Guerlain. Have quite a few of theirs and could easily buy some more.

Then again, they do not have Kouros...
Chanel
For me I'd go with either the Thierry Mugler house, the Givenchy house or the Burberry house.
As of today, Frederic Malle.
Creed. I think they cover all bases very well.
I'm gonna have to say Creed as well.
... it would be Chanel.
I would have to say Nina Ricci.
Tough one, but I think I'd have to go with Comme des Garcons if I had to choose.
Dior, Chanel, Creed in that order. None of them are perfect but they all have stuff I could work with. (1 not 3 I know)
I think Chanel or Dior i know that's 2, but i'm dithering. Ok Dior
post #60 of 125
Based on what I know so far and what works well with my chemistry...Dior.
