New Fragrance: Versace - Eros for Men

Eros was created by Aurelien Guichard of Givaudan and it was announced as fresh, woody and slightly oriental. The fragrance includes mint oil combined with green apple and Italian lemon. Warmth is provided by tonka mixed with Venezuelan ambroxan and geranium flowers giving a fougere twist to the fragrance this way.

Flacon of the new fragrance for men Eros is created of turquoise color glass with head of Medusa on the body of the bottle and on its top. The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml EDT, along with accompanying perfumed body care products. Face of the advertising campaign is Brian Shimansky, while photographers are Mert & Marcus. Donatella wanted a man-gladiator for the new campaign, who is fighting for what he wants, fighting for his goals. "This is a fragrance for a man who is his own master. He is a hero: a man who defends their ideas and goals." - stated Donatella Versace. The fragrance will premiere at TFWA 2012 in Cannes.

Aurelien Guichard has done some wonderful scents (Silver Factory, Chinatown). Kind of excited for this, actually; I love apple in fragrances and hope it's prominent here.

Love the concept, eager to try this

or it might look like this

it seems a promising beat.. I like the bottle as well.
Bottle looks very nice but will pass on this one. Not impressed by anything that Versace offers.

Excited for this one. Bottle looks awesome.
I'm a little surprised the name hasn't already been taken. Are there no good ones left? Seems a bit cliche.
I may be one of the few but there is something I always like about Versace fragrances. Nothing earth shattering but I think they do a good job with what they put out. Will be happy to try this.
Funny because Eros is the name of a popular bodyglide...lol

I can't get psyched on this one for Procter & Gamble is behind it since then everything has been lack luster from this house. I will smell it when it comes into town I would love to be surprised. I feel all the money went into the bottle.
Versace is just a little better than Boss as a fragrance house, IMHO.
love the versace house, can't wait to try this ..
Such a cliche name, but the notes seem so interesting.

I want this bottle.

Versace will launch Eros, a new fragrance for men, in November.

Versace Eros will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products.

Eros will not appear in the US until next March, when it will be exclusive to Macy’s.

Passing on this one. There is absolutely no way that bottle is going to fit in my drawer.

When I think of "Eros," I don't get manly and heroic at all. I get the image of an androgymous youth.

Interested in trying.

Atleast Versace is not flooding us with zillion of flankers every couple of months like Armani, CK, Gucci or YSL. I am interested just because of apple note.

That is exactly why it caught my eyes. Any time I see apple or grapefruit (thanks a lot Bottled and The One), I instantly start looking for samples.
I just hope this isn't another one of their in-your-face fragrance.

There's something wrong with the photoshopped guy. Either he has an immensely long chest or immensely long tights. Either way, they messed up the add, and that makes the whole thing a bit... tacky

However, I don't dislike Versace fragrances. I actually quite like Pour Homme, I almost love Eau Fraiche and I definitely love and wear Versense for women often in summer. None of them is a revelation, but they are nicely done and not expensive. Yes, a bit tacky somehow, but that's the brand...

everything is perfect and very versace.
I long for the old good versace scents (metal, v/s)
The bottle is like a throwback to the Gianni Era in the 90s, I hope the smell is too.

Haha Glad someone else caught that. I was thinking how strangely stumpy his legs looked for someone so tall....very long thighs.

How ridiculous for something created by some of the biggest names in fashion.

something wrong with the face. He looks like a teenager with the body of a mature man.
I like this weird ad.

The photograph is by Mert & Marcus, who are sort of known for their ultra-Photoshopped photos for many fashion brands. I agree, the model doesn't look anything like a 'man-gladiator' (giggle)

and here's a link to where you can watch the hilariously over-the-top and somehow entirely satisfying in it's free explosion of campy amazingness. haha.

i'm very excited to smell this one. gorgeous bottle and the notes sound interesting!

To anyone wondering what " Venezuelan Ambroxan" is, It is made from sclareol (which is a by product of Clary Sage which in this case is from Venezuela) which is used to synthesize Ambroxan. Ambroxan is a compound which is used to impart an Ambergris note into fragrances. It is also used in Creed's Ambergris Accord.

Thought this one was out in November, still no word on how it smells?
on sale from last november here, smells boring, synthetic and cheap..the apple note? was left on the tree!

looks like its a synthetic mess like encounter by CK.
Nice bottle. I'll try it, but do not have high expectations...
versace has some good scents, so im excited to try this one
post #37 of 51
this scent stinks. new trend: candies for guys. Oversweetened YSL L'Homme or diluted 1 Million or cheaper FK Amyris
post #38 of 51
I tried this yesterday and found it rather pleasant. Yes, it's very "safe" and hardly groundbreaking, but I quite like that sweet vanilla/mint combination, and it lingers softly for hours. Personally, I'd far rather this than the overpowering $1 Million.
Count me in as a fan. It may not be groundbreaking or entirely original, but I think it smells damn good. I liked One Million, it just became too sickly sweet and static. This, on the other hand, is a more grounded, more rounded, more temperate version of One Million that can be worn in any season.
I didn't get a one million vibe from this. It was light, synthetic, and all notes just bleed into oblivion not being able to distinguish anything from the chemical smell. Along these ranks, I much prefer Vince Camuto or EL Pleasures and find these far superior than to waste money on a flop of a creation. I will sniff this one again to make sure I'm not being harsh, but so far I'm left unimpressed.
I tried it today, let's be kind, this is horrible...

I got 0% 1 Million and 90% X Rocawear from Eros, with the additional 10% coming from a mint topnote. (And I happen to like 1 Million a lot.)

Save yourself the money and buy X Rocawear, which is a fraction of the price.
Ill pass if it smells similar to 1 million.

Fill me in on the Versace / P&G relationship, this is interesting...
tried this and don't like it
Yep, fresh, nice, didn't last on me, nothing special, meh....
I didnt like it, very sunthetic
Smells like any other designer fragrance
I tried this today...

Versace had some excellent fragances in the past, like L' Homme, Versus, Dreamer, V/S, Jeans Couture Men ande even some of the Jeans (Black Jeans, Blue Jeans, Green Jeans)...

But unfortunately for the lovers of this brand, this EROS lacks charisma and originality!

It is with great sadness that I see the best brands lose identity and are almost all a little more of the same ...
There is only one greek god.
Absolutely pointless and boring fragrance.
Awfully synthetic sweet, reminds of other abominations like 1 million. The performances (longevity, sillage) are very good though.
