Terre d'Hermes and Black Tourmaline

Does anyone else smell a similarity after drydown? I don't like Terre d'Hermes Opening rotton orange notes, but once I get past that- an hour or so- I get the dry black pepper and stone dust smell like in Black Tourmaline. I'm not saying they smell the same...just that common smell. I'd buy TdH if they'd loose the rotton orange, and put a smokey leather opening instead.

Not really, but I can see where you're coming from.

No similarity IMO.

I don't pick up any similarities -- however TdH is one of my all-time favorites, while with Black Tourmaline all I get is an ashtray smell (I am clearly in the minority with that).

I'm not sure what you mean. To me Black Tourmaline is remarkably balmy while Terre's drydown it's all about woods, vetiver and IES.

Yes. I find them very similar. Black Tourmaline is very potent in the opening with so much going on, but I think once it settles down the Terre d'Hermes comparisons become quite evident.

Terre d'Hermes and Black Tourmaline are similar as Men and Women are.
