Elegant, subtle, and refined,
For an introspective frame of mind.
Close to the skin, it lingers on,
I'll re-apply before it's gone.
I wish that it would longer stay,
But "Less is More,"...
Bentley for Men Intense opens with the faintest brief spray of dulled citrus mingling with a sheen of black pepper, before quickly adding laurel and cinnamon spiced smooth boozy rum-laced incense...
Skimming through the reviews of Habit Rouge it's apparent that this scent comes/came in many incarnations, wastly different. I've tried a current EdT. .. There's nothing masculine about this...
I dislike the original AdG, always have because of the bitterness and strange orange synthetic note. The Essenza after one wear won me over, smooth opening, soft woodiness once it settles down....
Disturbingly bad.
This opens up obscure, smoky, spicy and what seems like an attempt of a jasmine flower note. I have smelt jasmine notes from higher end perfumery and this is utterly...
1. For Those About to Rock -- ACDC (I love cannons..teehe)
2. I Had a Good Time -- Boston
3. Rock You Like a Hurrican Berlin Phiolharmonic Orchestra version -- Scorpions
(These are my 3 favorite for NOW.....the list could change...just sayin)
I could come up with so many 'three songs I love the most'. This is very spontaneously it:
Donny Hathaway - I love you more than you'll ever know
Bonnie Raitt - Feeling of falling (or so many more)
Jonny Lang - Cherry Red Wine (or again many more of the same album)
Army of Lovers is a very camp, Swedish dance act founded in 1989.
Crucified is to date their most succesful single - released in 1991,
and it still kicks ass.
Sopor Aeternus - Powder
Sopor/Anna Varney is a German transsexual darkwave, neo-classical act.
She creates some truely magnificent pieces of music. Some very grand.
The lyrics are not for everybody. She is brutally honest. She suffers from
severe depressions, which shines through her songs.
If you can see through the grotesque facade, you'll find a poor tortured soul.
Chris Issak - Wicked Game
The sexiest song, the sexiest man, the sexiest video, the sexiest voice,
the sexiest guitar riffs ... damn it's sexy!
Lou Reed's "Sweet Jane" - especially the live version on "Rock'n'Roll Animal", though there are several other good versions.
The Door's "Light My Fire" - especially the live version on "Alive She Cried"
Neil Young's "Like a Hurricane" - studio and live versions are all good, and so was Roxy Music's version.
I could have put Hawkwind's "Brainstorm" in there, but I can never make out much of the lyrics in any version.
At the moment I just love playing Kesha's "Die Young" and "Warrior" - but I know they'll never become all time favourites.
Cheers,
Renato
Jesus Duc, just when I think I've seen all the freaky weird music acts you pull out Sopor Aeternus - wowee!
She's quite amazing, ey?! She is one messed up individual, though.
And I feel kinda shamefull enjoying her misery. I just wanna hug her
and kiss her, telling her everything's gonna be alright!
Listen to this one, has to be one of the saddest songs ever written.
Knowing that every word is true. Anna-Varney is a true misanthrope.
She's been active since 1989, but has never held a concert, 'cause,
as she say: 'I don't perform for humans'.
Nor has she appeared in any tv-interviews - only written ones.
She is an enigma ... only letting us see her through her photo and
video art following each release!

Oh, and if you really gonna get into Anna's music,
I'd recommend you to try her newest releases first.
'The Triptychon of Ghosts' consisting of:
- A Strange Thing to Say
- Have You Seen This Ghost?
- Children of the Corn
They are all avaliable in full album lenght on YouTube
with great sound quality.
Her older stuff demands some acquainted taste,
and could scare you off.
Year of the Cat by Al Stewart; beautiful melody & lyrics, great guitar & sax solos, this song has everything.
Music by John Miles; expresses perfectly what it is to have a passion for music.
Who's Crying Now? by Journey. l could have chosen many of their songs, but this one epitomises their sound; Steve Perry's soaring vocals, the harmonies, & that guitar solo.
