Living in constantly HOT climates

Hi...it feels good to be back to basenotes. Please forgive me if my question seems dumb or silly, but as always, I wanna know it all.

Accra is super hot everyday, the sun is always blazing...and obviously there's nothing like winter or fall, it's pretty much hot summer all year long. Assuming i usually purchase my frags in the afternoons (say, during breaks or when I close from work)...can heat affect the frags when they are in my car for just a couple of hours before I get home? Considering the fact that my place of employment is quite far from my house and the sun schorches the whole time .

I think you're safe as long as they aren't kept in the hot car for days.

Nah you're cool, man (not literally...). I think it would need to cook for a few days or weeks at least to really affect a bottle. Just make sure it's out of direct sunlight hitting the juice. Good to have you back!

pretty much all of us own bottles that have sat in the back of some triple digit mail truck or UPS truck for 5-8 hours, or sat in some hot, non a/c muggy warehouse for days if not weeks or even months. if 2 hours in the heat could kill a perfume it'd be almost impossible to ship perfumes for at least half the year.

I am sure that the frags are not affected in such a short time. I would however keep them inside of a bag or box, away from the sunlight, and probably place it under my seat until I arrive to my destination. It is really the strong, natural sunlight that can do the most harm. I am sure you must buy a lot of aquatic and fresh scents. I have family in Brazil and it gets very hot and humid. When I am there, I can only reach for my fresher fragrances such as aqua fahrenheit, aqua di gio, etc.

Hello, I am from hellish hot Thailand.

I can assure you that the heat for the short of time should not spoil your perfume as the perfume house tship their products in hot truck, hot cargo, hot ship or hot airplane before they are arrive at your local perfume shop.

Other than aquatic, vetiver and citrus work great in heat.

A few hours of storage can not harm, as soon, as they are moved a short time after these hotter hours to a cooler, darker, area storage space.

Designer scents are pretty rugged in cars.

Still I'd be somewhat wary of repeatedly subjecting very complex designer scents and "natural" ingredient niche scents to hot car temperatures.

I keep cheap scents in my car all the time (Fred Hayman Touch for Men, Yardley's English Lavender) and they've never gone off. But for complex scents, when I need to transport them for some event, I keep them in an insulated bag (meant for cans of drink) in the trunk of the car, which stops them from getting the full heat blast. If they are fairly expensive, I may even put a plastic ice pack in the insulated bag.

i understand your paranoia since perfumes are so precious to us! but don't worry, a couple of hours in a warm car won't kill your perfumes
